Kasane is a good place to stay if you want to visit the incredible Chobe national park. It is a very small town, rather a village, with a few restaurants and supermarkets. The town itself is perhaps not very charming but the tours provided here are excellent and you can travel individually and book the tours. Kasane is the gateway to Chobe National Park and Victoria Falls is one hour away. After visiting large cities, Kasane was relaxing and easy to maneuver. So much so, that I mistakenly ended up at the Zambia gate and had to explain myself. I was surprised that there weren’t more touristy souvenirs in the stores. There are plenty of vendors though on the Main Street. I coordinated game drive, sunset cruise and round trip ride to Victoria Falls, through Iswiza Travel Agency. They were very helpful. For the game drive, I opted for a solo drive, and Sinka, my guide was worth the extra that I paid. If you are from SA and using road transport, the place is far, rather stop and sleep in Francistown and head to Kasane the following day. We had an outside caterer who served us breakfast and dinner, clean and well-cooked food. We went to Victoria falls via Livingston, did game drive and boat cruise in Kasane. The animals we did not see during game drive we saw during boat cruise. Lots and lots of animals, Lions, elephants, hippos, springbok etc. guyz crocodiles galore... Kasane is a good place to explore the Chobe River area and National Park from. There are also tours to the surrounding countries. I would only recommend it for wildlife enthusiasts. Pangolin Hotel is a great place to stay if you like photographing wildlife as the have specially adapted boats with 360 degree swing seats with tripods for use on the river and the park vehicles have padded supports again to aid with camera support.Guest review bypaulineUnited Kingdom
