Having researched all 5 villages, other reviews noted...
Having researched all 5 villages, other reviews noted Monterosso had some night life. I am happy we chose Monterosso, was nice to walk around in the evening. Ate at a different restaurant each night. Lovely beach vibe and not as hilly as the other villages. Had an amazing dinner at Ristorante Taverna Galin (make a reservation!) on our last night. Highly recommend.

I’m glad that we stayed in Monterosso (specifically Old Town) after visiting all 5 towns. I felt like it was the most charming and the cleanest town, also . None of us in my family are partiers, but we like to walk around after dinner and Monterosso seemed to have the most going on. We also loved having the beaches right there to relax on after sightseeing all day.

Lovely village in the north of Cinque Terra, with excellent restaurants, gelaterias, and train and hiking access to the national park and the other 4 towns in the Cinque Terra. Loved it. Will return. Ate at Cantina di Miky, one of the best restaurants we enjoyed during our 2.5 weeks in Italy in New Town, right next to our hotel. We also enjoyed Ristorante Belevedere, which served an outstanding fish, shellfish, and more stew reminiscent of bouillabaisse, and the Osteria which both had wonderful food in the old town. Easy train access to the rest of the Cinque Terra and hiking access to the National Park. It's easy to walk to all parts of Monterosso. Our son took a 2-hour sea kayak tour with snorkeling and sea cave exploration.

Monterosso is a vibrant, friendly and perfect place to stay if you are visiting Cinque Terre. It offers lots of small bars and restaurants has easy access to beaches and the train station.
We would recommend L'ancora Tortuga, Restuarant Moretto and Ventottoposti to eat at.
And Midi bar as a great place to take an early evening drink.

Monterosso is a beautiful place to visit.
Monterosso is a beautiful place to visit. You can walk to Vernazza from there or take the train to the other Cinque Terre towns.
The environment is friendly and relaxed. The sea is amazing even when the beach is small.
We loved Monterosso and Cinque Terre!

Monterosso was a great base for hiking in 5Terre.
Monterosso was a great base for hiking in 5Terre. We used the trails and trains nearly every day. The town is flatter and more spread out than the other towns, meaning that at the end of a long day, you dont have to climb a bunch more steps and steep alleyways to get around. Old town was great for restaurants and shops; we stayed in the new part of the town and found it remarkably quiet in the evenings. yes, we heard frequent trains, but they sound like distant thunder rolling through so not a harsh disturbance.

Property was clean and well maintained, The staff and owner were more than helpful. they made us a late diner, the next morning the breakfast was great, anything you may want for breakfast. they also supplied a shuttle to Monterosso. Made it easy for us to leave our car at the hotel and not have to deal with parking in town. Bathroom was modern and well appointed, great shower. I highly recommend this property.
We really enjoyed our stay in Soviore. A bit far away from Monterosso (5km) however, a free shuttle is available upon reservation at the reception ( /!\ only 8 places ). Breakfast is an important part of our decision when we book a hotel and I can say it was absolutely wonderful, the produce on offer was local and delicious!
We’d definitely be going back in the future.
The little hotel is located conveniently close to the train station (in new part of the Monterosso).
The rooms are clean n comfortable n the bathroom must have been recently renovated n upgraded which was nice.
Alessandro who takes care of the hotel is friendly n helpful with recommendations when asked.
Great location - facilities were very clean and Andrea and his staff were absolutely fantastic. Gave great directions in getting to the hotel and then helped with information regarding day trips we were doing and just helped made our stay in Monterosso such a good one!
