Absolutely worth a visit - found a great street market, lovely friendly cafes and the information centre directed us to a garden centre where of course we bought a lemon tree (actually two). If you want to listen to some seriously good music - visit the biggest of the four churches in the town centre and listen to the church choir practicing. We loved this town, because it’s not touristy & is a real Sicilian small city. Good restaurants, lots to do in the surrounding countryside & very nice accommodation. There isn't much to see in Caltanissetta itself but it is a good base for travelling around the area. It isn't touristy so not as busy as place such as Enna and Piazza Armerina. The roads are generally very good (apart from in the towns) so travel is quick and easy. The place you must not miss is Villa Romana del Casale.Guest review byGeoffUnited Kingdom

It was lovely to just sit out there, sip a drink, and soak in the quietness after the noise and bustle of Syracuse. The bathroom is very modern and stylish. Our host recommended a restaurant in Caltanissetta called Allesandro Papa for our first night and the food and wines there are excellent. The road to Villa Russo from the town is a minor road, bumpy and potholed but well worth the drive!Guest review byMauraIreland
