This unique 3 bedroom, 3 bath, two-story new luxury home is located on a secluded, end-of-the-road 5 acre property. There are 3050 sq. ft. under roof, including an 8ft wide lanai encircling the home from which mesmerizing ocean and pastoral views are evident from the North ranging East. Mountain views to the West. Interior highlights include redwood heart and cedar construction, exposed beam ceiling and skylight upstairs, exotic wood floors, all fine finishes including granite countertops in kitchen and all baths, marble sinks and tiled floor/walls in all baths, 2 king size beds, 1 queen bed. A short walk down a roped path will lead you to a private waterfall, around 10'-12' high, and natural pool, which has the feel of a grotto. Good hiking is available on the 5 acres, and there is a rushing stream that bounds the back of the property. You never have to leave the property to savor 'Old Hawaii': enjoy the captivating, panoramic views or hike the extensive and exhilarating paths around the property, which borders Hilo Forest Reserve. Wow !!!

This property is “ off the grid” for sure !! once you make it up the steep bumpy driveway you’re greeted by this amazing 12 sided little house ,…as you open up the top floor’s door you are greeted with this mind boggling ceiling !!! It’s an incredible piece of engineering to say the least , the hardwood floors and the beautiful kitchen are inviting. The bathrooms are accented with raised sinks and beautiful shower stalls . The wrap around lanai with its tables and benches invites you to sit down with a glass of wine and marvel at the beauty of the area. If your are looking for something truly unique and away from all traffic noise etc this maybe the place for you , basically you’ll only hear the sounds of birds,frogs ,water and a occasional moo from some neighbor’s cows . Thank you Carl for your hospitality and correspondence,…we really hope to stay here again .

Great views

This property was great! The host was very responsive and provided tons recommendations for the area. The house itself was lovely and had everything we needed. We especially loved the outdoor space and the spectacular views! Walking to the waterfall is a must!

Everything we expected!

The set-up of this property is really amazing, part country-side, part ocean view, and part jungle/rainforest. The two bedrooms downstairs were perfect for the four young adults and the parents stayed upstairs in the side bedroom which was a little cozy, but doable. Beds were very comfortable! We had some resident geckos but they were cute and kept to themselves. We visited the waterfall: the pathway was fairly muddy and slick due to rain but contributed to the jungle atmosphere - it was an adventure getting to the waterfall for sure! We did leave the property everyday and loved coming back to rest in the evening. We loved being at this property and would absolutely come back. Some notes: The driveway is tough. We had a minivan and had some problems getting up each time, not to mention its narrow, there is a slight turn and stone walls on each side when trying to pick up speed to get up the hill. In short, it was another adventure. We were a party of 6 and the dining room table and living room only had room for 4 individuals comfortably. We played games each night and it was tough for the other two people to participate, but we made it work - a bigger table would have been awesome. Again - great property, lots of tips and information from the host which was very appreciated and we would absolutely stay here again!

A real Hide-away

Being from Mainland US, this is what I go to Hawaii for. This place is a gem hidden in lush greenery, not in town but close enough for easy supply shopping, there are neighbors, but you really don't see them. It was like living in the "country" with modern amenities, well stocked with linens, utensils and a few basic supplies. The washer/dryer came in handy. Good check-in directions from Carl, our host also helped make the stay enjoyable. Our party of 3 stayed November 2023 for a week and immediately voted "Yes! good find".

Since first visiting Hawaii over 30 years ago, I had a dream of owning property on one of the islands, and this house represents the culmination of that dream. We are excited at the opportunity to share this wonderful place with others. I live in Friendswood, Texas, married with 2 sons and a daughter.

Why they chose this property

There's no doubt that the private waterfall on acreage is what appealed to us when shopping for Hawaiian properties. The seclusion at the end of the road is an added bonus, and who can deny the refreshing cool trade winds at around 1500 ft altitude! Of course, the pièce de résistance is the unbelievable view from the wraparound lanai.

What makes this property unique

Unlike most lots where a waterfall comprises part of the property boundary, this one is contained entirely on our property. Thus, no unexpected drop-ins by the neighbors! As a matter of fact, you'll probably not see another person once on the property. Water is by catchment and triple-filtered out of the sink/showers, or quadruple-filtered out of the fridge! On-demand systems means you never run out of hot water! Electricity consumed on the grid is balanced by solar panels, so we're almost completely green!
