About this property

Monte Cristo YURT Adventure

Mountain yurts are magical and if you haven't stayed in one, you're missing out! Enjoy this spacious 24' yurt located in the outdoor mecca between Monte Cristo and Hardware Ranch. It is tucked in a grove of trees and set up on the hillside, providing you with amazing views all the way around and stunning sunsets to the west. We enjoy lots of wildlife in the area, especially a majestic herd of 5 bull moose who live on this hillside. This is the perfect place to get away and enjoy solitude and the great outdoors!

This area has miles and miles of national forest trails less than a mile away!

Wintertime:
Enjoy groomed snowmobiling trails from Monte Cristo Parking lot to Hardware Ranch for a yummy hot meal. Off the groomed trails there are endless pristine powder trails that will blow your mind.
Message us for info on snowmobile rentals offered at the parking lot and popular snowmobiling trails in this area. We can send you all the info you need to plan an epic trip.

Spring-Fall:
Dirt biking, riding ATVs, horse back riding, and hiking are all very popular and very accessible. You can't beat this location if you love the outdoors, enjoy solitude, and crave backcountry recreation!

The yurt is approximately 6.5 miles from the parking area off of Utah-39 Scenic Highway and you are able to drive right to the yurt. Ant Flat Road is groomed during the wintertime and very popular for snowmobiling. People also cross country ski in or snowshoe in; however, make sure you are up for the distance. It is not a steep trail, but it does have some up and down. The actual distance may be less if you take a more direct path to the yurt (rather than sticking directly to the groomed road). Detailed directions and GPS coordinates will be provided upon booking.

A great escape
We loved our one night in this yurt. The July landscape was stunning, the yurt and surrounding deck allowed our family of 8 plenty of room to spread out. We only took non-prep food, so we didn't use the fire or propane. It's essentially glorified camping. It was easy to find. Be prepared for a long-feeling 6 miles each way on gravelly, not-very-smooth Ant Flat Road. Our large SUV had no problem. Not sure how our small sedan would have done. We've left feedback for some things for the owners. We loved it.

Yurtah
This Utah Yurt was rugged and isolated. Bring any amenities you need with you. I also suggest your own generator too if you want non-19th century means of heating. Great place to get away from it all.

Excellent getaway place
Spacious, well-equipped yurt, and deck with beautiful views of the hills, mountains and sunsets. The property is somewhat remote, and thus very peaceful. A truly enjoyable experience.

Great backcountry getaway
We came up with a small group of friends to celebrate a birthday. The yurt was clean, the communication with the manager was responsive and thorough and we had a blast! 10/10 would recommend for a friend getaway or a family retreat!!

My first yurt experience was eight years ago and I was hooked. Mountains, wood stove with a warm fire, and surrounded by friends. What more could you want?! Eight of my girlfriends and I set out for an adventure and it is something we all still talk about and cherish to this day. In fact, it became an annual tradition for us! I met my husband and he quickly got hooked as well and joined in on our annual yurting adventures. In today's busy world of technology, it is incredibly enjoyable and rejuvenating to be far up in the mountains with those you love and care about without any distractions. Snowmobiling, snowshoeing or backcountry skiing during the day, and relaxing, playing games, and laughing the night away. That is what yurting is all about.

If you've never had a yurting adventure, you're going to wish you discovered yurts a long time ago! If you've already been yurting, then you have lots of your own stories and we don't need to convince you of anything. Book your adventure!

We look forward to your stay!
