About this property

Beautiful and Comfortable Log Home with Mountain Views

The Cranberry Lodge Guest House offers our guests an authentic Yukon experience. Located north of Whitehorse in the forests of Ibex Valley and surrounded by mountains and stunning views, the Guest House is a beautiful and comfortable log home that is the perfect retreat for your Yukon adventures. It is close enough to Whitehorse for easy access to the Yukon arts, culture, dining, shopping, and recreation facilities, yet far enough to enjoy the spectacular northern lights (27 km). We offer our guests complimentary Wi-Fi internet.

Please see the “Group Size" section below for more details about group size.

The guest house has its own private back deck, propane BBQ, fire pit, and hot tub. The main floor includes a fully equipped kitchen, full bathroom, master bedroom (queen bed), and open concept dining and living room. The second floor includes two bedrooms (bedroom 2: queen and double beds / bedroom 3: two twin beds) and a den with sofa bed, Smart television, and movie collection. A twin folding bed is also available. The basement includes a ¾ bathroom, washer/dryer, and storage for your outdoor equipment. For those travelling with children, we also offer shared access to the main house playground.

The guest house is tastefully decorated with a northern decor and furnished with quality furnishings and modern appliances. All bedrooms are furnished with custom built log beds, side tables, dressers and spacious closets. The dining table can seat 12 guests and is ideal for family gatherings or workshops.

The Guest House shares a sunroom with the main house where your hosts reside but otherwise is an entirely separate home. Your hosts, Al and Carolyne, will welcome you and answer any questions you may have and then leave you to enjoy your home away from home and peaceful surroundings.

Carolyne is a certified yoga instructor and offers on-site yoga classes.

Our house rules:
No smoking. No parties. No pets.

Group Size:
Depending on the composition of your group, the guest house can accommodate groups of 8 to 10 people. However, to ensure that our guests have a comfortable stay, we have limited the instant booking feature to 7 guests. If you would like to book the guest house for a larger group, please contact us and we will go over our accommodations with you to ensure they suit your needs.

General Rules:
• Check-in time is after 4:00 PM and check-out time is by 11:00 AM unless agreed upon in advance with your hosts.
• Quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM
• No smoking and no pets inside the house.
• Please, no outside footwear on the wood floors and do not use your luggage rollers on the wood floors. They are beautiful real wood floors - be kind.
• Close and lock all doors and windows when leaving the guest house.

Occupancy:
• The maximum occupancy is equal to the total number of registered guests. Additional guests must be cleared with your hosts ahead of time.

Use of property:
• This tenancy is for residential vacation accommodations only.
• Parties are not allowed in the guest house under any circumstances. However, we welcome respectful gatherings of families and friends. Should you wish to hold an event, please discuss it with your hosts ahead of time to discuss ground rules and potential fees.
• The wood stove in the basement cannot be used by guests. It is a secondary heating system to be used only by your hosts in the event of a winter power failure.

Use of the hot tub:
• Why do we have rules around use of the hot tub? Well, you can blame the guys that ate mushroom/olive cheesy toasted baguettes and dumped a plate full in the tub and the few folks that decided it'd be a great place to take a bath.
• Help us maintain the water quality by going in clean (please wash off creams, lotions, and bug spray prior to use)
• No use of bath products in the hot tub.
• No food in the hot tub.
• Children must be accompanied by adults.

Play Yard:
• For those travelling with children, we also offer shared access to the main house playground. Adults must be present to supervise children at all times.

Cleaning:
• We don't expect our guests to do any laundry (towels/bedding) or clean the house before checking out, in fact please don't, but we do expect our guests to behave like grown-ups and not leave the house a complete mess. But please...
• Throw out your leftovers.
• Clean your dishes and start a load in the dishwasher before checking out.

Above and beyond
The lodge is gorgeous, the surrounding area is breathtaking and Al is a delightful host. We were so lucky that we were able to stay at the Cranberry Lodge. It's well-equipped with thoughtful amenities. Although it would have been helpful to have a rental car, we enjoyed walking to Scout Lake and relaxing in the hot tub and grounds.

Book with Confidence!
Cranberry Lodge offers an exceptional experience, with perfect hosts who offer friendliness, warmth, clear directions, responsiveness and invaluable advice. The lodge's location in the serene Ibex valley offers breathtaking views and is an ideal spot for viewing the Northern Lights, plus it's only a short drive from the Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs. The lodge itself is spacious, clean, well-equipped, and comfortable, with an incredibly well equipped kitchen, cozy bedrooms, comfy beds and well-stocked bathrooms. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need: plenty of pots, pans, utensils, dishes, coffee maker, etc There are even books, games, TV with Netflix and strong WIFI -- for the long winter nights. The outdoor space includes an amazing hot tub, fire-pit, snowshoes, sleds, and a playground area. Overall, Cranberry Lodge is highly recommended for anyone seeking a cozy, comfortable, and unforgettable vacation rental experience.

Beautiful and Peaceful
Lovely property and well equipped. We wanted to stay outside of Whitehorse, and this fit the bill perfectly. A car is absolutely necessary, and everything is roughly a 30 minute drive. There is a lot to do in the area, and we were out and about most of the time. We would love to go back in the summertime too. Great vacation, and wonderful to escape to a slower pace.

Excellent Yukon getaway
My best friends and I all did a college reunion at Al's cabin and absolutely loved it. The cabin was a perfect place to hideaway from the world for a few days and enjoy the wilderness. Al was kind and thoughtful host.

Our Stay at Ibex Valley
Cranberry Lodge was a great experience. The lodge is very spacious and can accommodate a group of 7 people. The property has all the amenities that you need and more. My wife and I enjoyed our stay and wouldn’t stay any other place while in Whitehorse. The views are exceptional.

About the host

Hosted by Alain and Carolyne

Host profile image
Hi, we are your hosts, Al and Carolyne.

We are excited to list the Cranberry Lodge Guest House on VRBO and to share this unique Yukon home with travelers and adventurers from all over the world. We offer beautiful accommodations in a world class setting. As hosts, we will respect your privacy while also being available for any questions you may have about the facilities and travelling in Yukon.

Carolyne is truly multi-talented. She is a primary school teacher but also has a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, a Master's degree in Art Education, and is a certified yoga instructor. She offers yoga and art classes as well as group creative retreats in her on-site studio.

Al is a wildlife biologist and handles communication, property maintenance, and gardening. Odds are you'll be chatting with Al when exchanging messages and if you enjoy the meticulous flower gardens in front of the house, well, that's also Al (and his OCD).

Why they chose this property

We own and care for the guest house ourselves and treat it as such. Our approach has been to provide our guests with a vacation rental property such as we would want ourselves when traveling for vacation or work. We have been offering this property for four years, have learned a lot from our guests' feedback, and have thought through most of the little details that truly make a difference to our guests. We are proud of our reviews on this site and others because they reflect the hard work we put in to ensure our guests have a great stay and experience with us. Although our own house and the guest house are joined at the hip by a sunroom, they are two separate houses and your stay with us will be as private as you wish it. We are always there to help if you need anything or have any questions on local amenities and attractions. We look forward to meeting you!
