About this property

BACK ON MARKET!! Cute, quiet, and clean Puget Sound Home. Beach and great views!

Update 2/13/24 - After being off the market and unavailable for rent last year, the Collier Cottage is back on the market and better than ever. More kayaks, new windows treatments, more decor/games/puzzles and more. We look forward to making your stay a memorable one! Located on ever changing and world famous Hammersley Inlet in Shelton, this adorable beachfront cabin will provide you with the ultimate spot for some much needed rest and relaxation. Watch the tide, tug boats, seals, and occasional Orca from the comfort of the couch. With more than 20 miles of visibility to the West, the view will never be the same twice.

Originally built in 1940 this cabin retains it historic charm including the original hardwood floors, wooden walls, exposed beams, millwork and wood stove. There are even two Dutch doors facing the water perfect for letting in the summer breeze. A ductless heat pump has been installed to provide both heating and air conditioning. The home includes a refrigerator, dishwasher, washer/dryer, and microwave for you to use. The bedrooms feature queen beds, dressers, and closets. A queen sized inflatable mattress will also be left at the home. The home will be fully furnished and decorated for your enjoyment.

The property is over ½ acre in size and is fenced on both sides, providing a private escape for you and your guests. The home is the third to last home on a dead-end street, so you’ll see more marine traffic than cars driving by. Much like the waterfront, the landscaping is always changing. The yard features many seasonal plants uncommon to the region including Rice Paper plants, Banana Leaf trees, and Hardy Pampas Grasses. The backyard is exceptionally private during the summer months when the grasses are in bloom. The yard includes a brick-lined firepit, gated stairs (10 stairs total) to beach, and a small covered patio located off the kitchen.

The home features 75’ of low bank frontage along Hammersly Inlet in the South Puget Sound. This particular area experiences over 15’ of tidal movement and can look more like a river than the Sound during certain periods of time. The beach is rocky/sandy, allowing you to walk on it without sinking into mud. There is also a moorage buoy out front in case you choose to bring your boat. Adirondack chairs and two kayaks will also be provided.

During my seven years living full time at the home I have been lucky enough to see many Orca pods, sea lions, seals, and otters. The home is also often visited by many deer, Bald Eagles, and even the occasional fox. Watching the Seagulls attempt to break into the abundant amount of shellfish on the beach will entertain you for hours!

Upon arrival you will be provided with an information sheet describing instructions for the WiFi, television, and check out procedure. You will also be provided with freshly washed bedding, towels, drinking water, coffee, and all the plates/cups/silverware you’ll need.

Outdoor amenities include two kayaks/paddles/vests, BBQ, propane fire pit, and many lawn chairs perfect for watching the sunset over the horizon. We strive to have all of the lawns mowed and landscaping looking great for maximum outdoor enjoyment!

The exterior of home has been freshly painted, a new electrical panel installed, water treatment system installed, and whole house recently replumed. All systems/appliances in home are up to date and work great.

We're a private host who cleans, maintains, and services the rental ourselves. As opposed to locations which are managed by rental agencies, we have pride of ownership and are here to help at a moments notice. The cottage was my primary residence for 7+ years and over that time I poured my blood, sweat, and tears into making the property as tranquil and inviting as possible. We are proud of what we've built and look forward to sharing the experience with you!

Great house/host
My family had a great time staying here. The host was responsive and was ready to help with any questions. The house was inviting, clean, comfortable, and has a great backyard with access to beach. It rained during our stay but did not mind staying inside and enjoying the view and games/movies. Will rent this again on our next trip to PNW.

Waterfront gem
Cute little cottage with lots of character. The communication was excellent with the owner. We would have loved to come during Summer and taken advantage of the kayaks but we watched the eagles and seals instead on a beautiful morning!

Riding the tides
What a great place to spend time - either paddling in the sound or just sitting on the lawn chairs in front of the fire pit, this wonderful cottage is a treasure both for location and for comfort. Thanks so much for letting us stay for our second visit.

We are a young and energetic couple who enjoy everything this beautiful area has to offer. I'm a longtime Real Estate professional in Mason County and my wife works in the medical industry here in Shelton as well. We enjoy everything this beautiful area has to offer and we can't wait to share it with you! We're expecting our first child this year and converting this house into a VRBO is going to allow us to spend more time at home with our new child.

Why they chose this property

You'll see as soon as you step onto the property that is it a special place. Located at the end of a quiet dead end road, the home is build very close to the water and forward of all the neighboring homes. This means the view is totally unobstructed from every room. The 1/2 acre provides plenty of outdoor space and privacy. The beach is a mixture of sand and gravel, and can be walked on without sinking in. We liked the area so much that once we outgrew the home as a full time residence, we purchased our neighbor's home and now live two doors away. Leaving this peaceful neighborhood was not an option.

What makes this property unique

Summer sunsets are incredible, as the sun sets directly in the middle of the westerly view.
