About this property

Stunning views! Luxury Mountain Retreat. Main lodge PLUS separate guest house.

Nestled on top of a beautiful valley, the Lantern Lodge offers extraordinary views of the sun setting over the mountains. Cozy and inviting, the lodge offers 7 bedrooms, each with direct access to the one of 6 baths; plus 2 additional attic dormers, offering 3 bunkbeds each. Every bedroom, as well as the attic dormers, offer spectacular views. The four level log/rock home offers five covered porches, plus an additional covered porch at the guest house. The log beams give the feel of a superb mountain lodge. All new furniture, mountain themed, further add to the chalet air. Fully paved accessible road and driveway.

The main level offers two bedrooms, one with a king-size bed, the other with a queen-size bed. The floor plan is open and includes the great room with a cathedral ceiling, a double see-through fireplace, which serves both the great room as well as the brand new kitchen. The kitchen has two bar seatings as well as a cozy hunter themed dining area, creating a spacious area for guests to enjoy. On the upper level, the exquisite master suite features a king size bed, a wood fireplace, and a porch overlooking the patio below, as well as the mountain across. The rustic master bathroom has a jacuzzi, as well as a rainfall style, massage system in the rock mosaic shower stall. The other bedroom on the upper level has two double beds, and a private covered porch. On the third level, two spiral staircases lead to two separate attic dormers, each offering three bunkbeds, rustic decor, and magnificent views.

On the lower level, one bedroom offers a queen size bed, as well as a two bunkbeds, one double size, one twin. The jack-and-jill bathroom joins the cellar bedroom, an actual rock cellar transformed into a bedroom, with a queen-size bed. Both bedrooms open onto a covered porch overlooking the valley below, and the mountains beyond. The laundry, offering all new appliances, is also located on the lower level. If needed, there is an inflatable double-sized mattress with pump which can create sleeping space for an additional two guests.

The separate guest house, rock covered and rustic, provides a bedroom with a king-size bed, as well as two twin bunk-beds; a bathroom and full kitchen; as well as a covered porch overlooking the valley and the mountains. The all rock back patio has a fireplace, as well as a pizza/bread oven. Down from the patio is the built-in rock waterfall, and a rock fire-pit with rock benches. The spiral staircase tree-house near the fire-pit offers breathtaking views, as well as the opportunity to hang your ENO hammock so you can enjoy the breeze.

FOR WEDDINGS, there is an additional $600 site fee collected. This covers the customary increased use of the facility, as well as the additional guest traffic usually expected with such events. Fairy tale wedding
Finding this location for a wedding was a blessing. Due to the weather, the wedding was moved indoors; doing that made it a magical, beautiful, exhilarating wedding ; Lantern Lodge, being the place it is, is the perfect place for a fairytale wedding, even with cold temperatures and rain. The venue is stunning, lovely, enchanting, and indeed, perfect. Also, Lantern Lodge has an exceptional Property Manager, Jessica Young, with her assistants Susie and Mike, that are available for hire. Also recommend the wedding planner, Lydia Leek, who is very talented. Lantern Lodge is a haven for many weddings.

Great for large family retreat
We chose Lantern Lodge for a large family retreat and had a wonderful time! The property is beautiful, the view is gorgeous, and since it was winter we put all of the outdoor and indoor wood burning fireplaces to good use! Our hosts were very responsive and there were no issues. Our only surprise was that a few of the bedrooms are lofts that are connected to other bedrooms with no door or privacy between. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend!

Wonderful family stay at Lantern Lodge
Our family of 19 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lantern Lodge. The house was gorgeous, spacious, comfortable and fit our needs perfectly. The views were beautiful and the outdoor areas were fantastic. We had a pizza party one night and had a great time making pizzas in the wood fire outdoor pizza oven. Everyone enjoyed sitting around the outdoor fireplace as well. Also, a special thank you to the property manager Jessica. Jessica always responded quickly to any questions or requests, making our stay that much more enjoyable. I highly recommended staying at the Lantern Lodge.

About the host

The owners have been married since 1989 and have five children. They live a busy life near Atlanta, but love to get away to the mountains for relaxation and renewal. They hope others will find the Lodge to be the place of rest and joy it has become for the owners and their family.

Why they chose this property

Before the Cornel and Kristina purchased this cabin, their family often rented cabins in the north Georgia mountains for three day weekend vacations. Because "roughing it out in tents" was not on the "fun list" for everyone in the family, they decided that cabins would be the next best compromise. One time, in 2006, they happened to rent a cabin in Blairsville, not too far away from the present lodge. The family fell in love with the area, and decided to buy a cabin there to which they could return anytime.

The three main criteria the desired cabin had to have were: privacy, beautiful views, and low maintenance. After combing the area, and with the help of friends, the family finally came upon the present place of the Lodge. Privacy was offered by its border with the National Forest in the back, and plenty of seclusion on every other side. The valley sunset view was arresting. The maintenance simple. Finally a cabin with all three criteria! However, the original building was only a simple, albeit lovely, private, hidden cabin, with a gorgeous view. As the children grew, Cornel and Kristina decided to expand and remodel the cabin. With engineering approval, two new levels were added, two indoor fireplaces, the entire semi-circular back wall which encompasses the kitchen and master bedroom, and a guest house. Because the back-yard hill started its incline within a few feet of the original kitchen door, covering the entire present day back yard, the hill was dug out and excavated about 40 feet in, and a retaining wall installed. Afterward, the pizza-oven and fireplace were added. The rock driveways, fire-pit, and water-fall were the final touches. To encourage the youthful adventure of their children, the owners had the tree-house built, memorializing the original intent of the remodeling: a retreat for the family. Through Cornel's relentless hard work and exceptional leadership, the cabin was transformed into the present day Lantern Lodge.

What makes this property unique

Comfort, beauty, privacy, invigorating nature views; whether relaxing by the fire, hiking the trails, or watching the gorgeous valley sunset, these are all encompassed in a stay at the Lantern Lodge. Its proximity to the Chattahoochee National Forest and the trails it offers; the lovely town of Blairsville with its quaint mountain feel; as well as all the other touristic attractions within short distance - these make the Lantern Lodge a preferred vacation retreat.
