The Gargano: Gargano - the spur of Italy
The spur of Italy was in geological times an island that today through the fertile plateau (Tavoliere) connected from Foggia to the Apennine peninsula. The formerly inaccessible because karst jagged promontory reaches heights of over 1,000 m and will slide about 65 km in the southern Adriatic front.
The interior of the Gargano was available until the beginning of this century, only about paths, with the western part and the eastern heavily karstified is forested gorgeous.
