About this property

Sanctuary Farm Log Cabin Mountain Getaway

If you are looking for a nature filled scenic get-a-way, or working getaway, come stay with us in our charming guest house log cabin, set on 25 acres on the edge of Lolo National Forest. Enjoy "forest bathing" (taking a walk in the woods), and rewild yourself. Complete with the sounds of a creek, a fire circle, lots of places for hiking and right on a forest service road for snowmobiling and hiking. Cell coverage is spotty up here in the mountains, but we do have internet. We are pet friendly. Our farm has gardens, goats, free range chickens (please keep fido on a leash), barn cats, and a beautiful golden retriever. Please, no parties and no recreational drugs.

Peace and Quite
We spent four days of absolute peace and quiet at the sanctuary farm. Could not have been more relaxed when we left. Matt and Liz were the perfect hosts and their son, Alexander, was most entertaining.

Truly a sanctuary!
Matt and Liz are wonderful hosts! The cabin is clean, well appointed with everything one would need and more. It is a comfortable, peaceful log retreat nestled in the Bitterroot forest that offers all the sights and smells of this beautiful area. We love it there!

About the host

Hosted by Liz and Matt Deen

Host profile image
We have created a Sanctuary for people here, with our chickens and goats and large gardens. We have a heart for the simple, old ways... growing herbs, making tinctures, making goats milk soap, and primarily growing what we eat. We love the quiet of our little valley and the magnificent forest surrounding us. We try to live in harmony with our surroundings, and listen to nature.

Why they chose this property

We love this property for the creek, the trees, and the feel of getting away from busy life. It truly does feel like the little house in the big woods. It is gorgeous every season of the year. Winter is amazing with the snow on the trees, fire going in the wood stove to keep everyone cozy, and all the outdoor sports winter provides. Summer is amazing for getting in the creek, hiking, and sitting in a hammock listening to the birds. Spring and fall are spectacular as well.

What makes this property unique

Cozy cabin in the woods, the feel of re-wilding yourself or just getting away from the busyness of life. This guest cabin offers serene walks in the woods, petting goats, reading a book, and taking a deep breath.
