This is my second stay at the Ryan Hotel, and each time has been great! I love the location of the hotel because it’s right in the heart of Cong. The staff is always the highlight for me. They are truly exceptional and friendly! I always felt like I was treated so well and enjoyed the helpful information they would give on places to visit. Everything was extremely comfortable and clean at this hotel.

Their shuttle service between points on the estate was a wonderful service and greatly appreciated. The Hawk Walk was a very special experience made even better by a warm welcome from Yvonne and by our lovely guide Neamh. The meals at The Lodge and at Cullens on the grounds of the estate were excellent.

Geraldine and Michael are first-rate hosts! I was warmly welcomed to their beautiful B&B farm, and generously taken care of throughout my stay. The place is immaculately clean and tidy and as comfortable as a five-star hotel. The full Irish breakfast with Michael’s homemade Irish soda bread was the best I’ve had in my 90+ days traveling the Emerald Isle.

This is a lovely property, in a nice quiet location. There was ample parking to the side of the building.
Mary, our host, was very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed.
The room was a very good size, with a view over the surrounding fields.
The breakfast was lovely, with a full choice of options, including a full Irish breakfast (which I had on most mornings!).
The tea station on the landing was also a very nice touch. Thank you for the biscuit selection as well.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and will stay again next time we are visiting.

We were on a flying visit, but I know the village as I grew up nearby. Unless the weather is appalling, it us a great place to go. Lovely quaint village with lots of walks, caves, boat trips & eateries. Ideal for families and couples & those with wee dogs.

There were many interesting sets from The Quiet Man movie, as a well as a Quiet Man museum with costumes and props from the movie. There were coffee shops, restaurants and pubs, and a variety of clothing and souvenir shops. Getting around Cong was very easy. Parking in town was a little difficult, but there are two car parks, one just as you enter town and one near the church.

If at all possible --- go to Ireland's School of Falconry!!
If at all possible --- go to Ireland's School of Falconry!! Yvonne and Tommy were excellent! It was an experience of a lifetime. The grounds of Ashford Castle are gorgeous!! And it was a great surprise to see the lodge used for Danagher's house as we were walking through the gardens to the School of Falconry. The Monk's fishing cabin is cool.
Of course, The Quiet Man sites were fun. Aran Knitwear is a lovely store. I wish they'd have a few Clancy Brothers-type cables, but the modern, sleeker ones are pretty.
Pat Cohan's was delicious for dinner and had a luxury menu at good prices. Nice specialty cocktails, too.
We ate at Danagher's pub for lunch and the beef stew was huge and tasty (if a little salty). It reminded me of my uncle's rec room in the 60s.
The Irish History bookstore (Rare & Recent Books) was worth visiting. Extensive collection, modern titles, great old books, books in Irish, children's books, too. The prices were good.
Everyone we met in Cong was friendly and had good info!

We loved Cong.
We loved Cong. It was a beautiful town and area, with a gorgeous ruined abbey, forest walks, caves, an impressive manor house, quaint stores... The food was excellent at the Crow's Nest, and we LOVED the live music by Stephen and Trish. The salmon at Lydon's Lodge was incredible. The porridge at the Puddleducks Cafe, delicious. We HIGHLY recommend the Irish History Bookshop on Main Street. The owner, Robert, a historian himself, was able to provide us with so much information about the area's archaeological history that interested us. From Cong we explored the Nymphsfield Standing Stones (hard to find, but super-cool), the Ballymacgibbon Cairn, Moyne Castle, and Annaghkeen Castle. Cong is also the perfect base for day-trips to the Connemara Penninsula, and to the Aran Islands.
Spacious, clean, comfortable and with everything you need and many homely touches! The owner has thought of everything. Cong village is about a 35 minute walk that can take you via the beautiful Cong woods, across the river that has the monks fishing house (and abbey nearby) and with a view to Ashford castle. We found five great bars in the small and picturesque village, live music in one, so had a very enjoyable Saturday night. Blakehill house was absolutely perfect for our short break to enjoy beautiful Cong.
Beautifully appointed home with history going back to the Guinness family. Large, comfortable room, sparkling clean, amazing and delicious breakfast, opportunity to meet guests from around the world. So close to the village, pubs, live music, trails to walk, the Ashford Castle, beautiful river. Was the highlight of our Ireland trip. Host Rachael is the best with delightful conversations and excellent referrals for places to eat, sites to see.
Breakfast was superb. Staff where excellent and nothing was a bother. All the food served during dinner was beautiful and well presented proper restaurant quality. Dining inside or outside was not a problem plenty of space and very clean. The hotel does exactly what it says on the tin and is great location for cong and its history and for also travelling around the scenic mountains and towns surrounding. The stout is amazing.
The property was in an ideal location for us - in walking distance to the village of Cong and close to The Lodge at Ashford Castle where we were attending a wedding. From booking to questions and queries the owners were a pleasure to deal with. The accommodation is very accessible as all ground floor, it was very clean and plenty of crockery and cutlery etc. We enjoyed our stay
We arrived in lovely Cong and parked in the large carpark, behind the hotel. (the entrance way is just beside the Garda station) The hotel is lovely and staff were very welcoming. Our room was small but grand for a one night stay. The bathroom was clean and modern. We had a lovely few drinks in the bar and the breakfast was nice. Wonderful experience!
Very welcoming host. Excellent breakfast, including provision of smoked salmon and gluten free bread. Great location for visiting the town of Cong and local attractions. Perfect location for exploring Lough Mask. Spacious & well equipped bedroom and bathroom. Quiet. The host offered free access to tea, coffee & other drinks & to some snacks.
This is a little gem on the outskirts of Cong Village, near Ashford Castle. It's very quiet and a wonderful place to stay for exploring the surrounding countryside. The facilities were of high standard, with comfortable beds and open plan living space, and the owners a pleasure to deal with. I would definitely recommend it. Thank you.
We really enjoyed our stay in Cong. I would really recommend the Cosy Loft. A beautiful, warm & very comfortable apartment, very close to the village. Excellent facility. Sinead, Gary& family was very welcoming. I wish to thank them for welcoming us to there lovely apartment. We hope to return again
The hostess was very polite and always with a smile. Her cooking was amazing, and she provided everything we needed (including plugs for power, since in my country we use different that the ones in Ireland). Our room everyday was cleaned.
Everything was great, the apartment was sparkling clean. Thank you Patricia and Gerard for making our stay so comfortable. We enjoyed the Ashford castle and the surroundings, this is by far one of the best places we've been to in Ireland.
The location couldn’t be better, it’s just steps away from The Quiet Man museum and John Wayne’s statue, and minutes from Ashford Castle. The room was clean, beds comfortable, bathrooms new. Delicious breakfast and super friendly owners.
the reservation seemed to indicate check-in ended at 7 pm, but we were in at 7:30 pm; spacious kitchen and dining room that was very quiet Sunday at 7 am; room was quiet; least expensive hotel we stayed in in Ireland
Great location, Cong is a beautiful town, staff at the hotel were lovely and helpful, breakfast was amazing, tasty and hot, could have stayed there just for the food. Right in the centre of the town.
Such a great location to Cong and Ashford Castle. walking distance from pubs and shops.
A very spacious property with all amenities required for a comfortable stay. Highly recommend!
Lovely accomodation on the unique island of Cong. Very pleasant & welcoming staff. Quality patrons. Cong village & Ashford Castle, a must visit destination.
It is a fine hotel on the grounds of Ashford Castle. We were able to avail of the different facilities on the grounds and also participate in water sports
