We enjoyed our trip to Charleston.
We enjoyed our trip to Charleston. We did a 2 hour walking tour through the city and it was very interesting. Our tour guide, Fran, with Bulldog Tours was very knowledgeable and passionate about the city. Loved seeing The Battery and all of the beautiful historic homes. These homes have the most beautiful window boxes filled with flowers. We also did a harbor cruise with Harbour Tours which was very informative. We got right up to the USS Yorktown. There is an abundance of restaurants and bars to choose from. We went to Rue de Jean and Coast Bar and Grill. Both were located in Hutson's Alley. Good food and reasonable prices. If you love to shop you have to go to King Street. There were many boutiques and high-end shops. Lots of places to eat or stop for a drink or coffee. Charleston is a very walkable city, and we definitely got our miles in! Now that I am more familiar with certain parts of the city I would try other small hotels on our next visit.

Charleston is always a delightful visit.
Charleston is always a delightful visit. The hotel was close to the venue for a wedding (Charlestown Landing at the Legare Waring House). Charlestown Landing, with the gorgeous azaleas and other flowers in full bloom, was breathtaking and the perfect setting for the outdoor wedding under the ancient live oaks that epitomize quintessential Charleston. The hotel was conveniently located to various restaurants (Boxcar Betty's did run out of chicken Friday evening so go early!) in the area and was very easy to maneuver with GPS. Stella's is a great restaurant featuring Greek cuisine and you're hard pressed to find better, fresher oysters (and other delicious fare) than at the Darling Oyster Bar.

It’s a beautiful historic city.
It’s a beautiful historic city. If you are downtown there is a free bus and it is easy to walk to many sites. We had a wonderful dinner to celebrate a special birthday at Halls Chop House, expensive but worth it. Also had a delightful lunch at Magnolia. Everything was crowded and expensive. Reservations at popular places are a must even on weekdays in April!

Plan on doing some walking.
Plan on doing some walking. We enjoyed a horse-drawn carriage tour - an hour long, $50, well worth it, and a great tour guide. Shopping at the Marketplace is a must, 3 blocks of warehouse buildings full of unusual items. The Waterfront is a beautiful walk, as is Rainbow Row (a collection of pastel colored homes). We had Lunch at Magnolia's at the bar, which was Outstanding. We spent our first afternoon at Boone Plantation - HIGHLY Recommended! Beautiful gardens, "Entrance of Oaks", a Cafe' on site, and a Tractor tour of the property, all wonderful. If you can only do 1 plantation, this one is CLOSE, 20 minutes from downtown, and beautiful.

Charleston is an awesome walking city. So much history.
Charleston is an awesome walking city. So much history. Definitely take a walking tour, as soon as you arrive. A great way to learn the lay of the land and what Charleston is all about. Restaurants are way above most cities. You can tell the chefs take great pride. We enjoyed "Southbound Restaurant!" Every bite was incredible with different taste that we could not pinpoint but enjoyed immensely! Make reservations well in advance, as the weekends are full. Great city for couples and girls weekend. Lots and lots of shopping! Fun City!
As with most La Quinta hotels, you know what you can expect and this property in Charleston was no different. The hotel is nicely appointed, very clean, everyone masks up, The staff are friendly and helpful, The location is great. A nice view of the river and boats at a yacht club, + a very nice, casual restaurant at the end of the parking lot, While you are not in the heart of the historic district, you are a 5 minute drive to the downtown area. I highly recommend.
Amazing location directly on the river, in a beautiful area only 10 minutes from downtown Charleston. Zack was very kind and he gave us perfect suggestions (restaurant, parking, beach...) to live Charleston like a local. The Suite was very spacious and clean with a terrace with beautiful view on the river. High quality breakfast. If you are looking for a place where discover the Southern charm, Waterway is definitely the perfect location.
The hotel was nicely situated about half way between downtown Charleston and Sullivans Island beach. Roughly 15 minutes by car to either. Our particular room had two separate bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a kitchenette. Very nice! This was an upgrade we paid for, as most rooms are not configured like this. The staff were fantastic! Comfortable beds and clean rooms.
I strongly recommend this hotel. Reasonable price. Recently renovated rooms in sixties style with a Jetson look : glass front wall, new very nice walk in shower, colorful accent items. There is a nice bar that has a "Friend's" feel. Friendly and efficient manager. Less than 15 minutes from downton Charleston through local streets. I will go back for sure !
The hotel was very close to the venue we were there for (Carolina Ice Palace). The staff was friendly. I appreciated the extra steps the man who checked us in took, he pointed to our room number instead of saying it out loud for all the lobby to hear.It was very short driving distance to downtown Charleston, so that was also nice!
The location was perfect for shopping, a variety of restaurants, and places of interest. It was only 10 minutes to Charleston's historic district.
The hotel was very clean and the staff, from the front desk to housekeeping were friendly, professional and helpful.
Great location (10 minutes to downtown Charleston and 20 minutes to Folly Beach…our new favorite beach town); shuttle every hour that takes you to and from downtown to avoid parking hassles and fees; more reasonable price than high-end hotels.
This hotel is our go-to place for a visit to Isle of Palms/Mt. Pleasant/Charleston. It's perfectly located and the staff is always helpful. Parking is free and easy and the shopping center nearby is convenient. We'll be back.
Perfect location for us.
About a $15 Uber to downtown Charleston.
About 10-15 minutes to Isle of Palm Beach.
The breakfast was amazing for a hotel with a very sweet little lady providing excellent friendly service!
This is a modern, trendy hotel with very cosy and chic rooms. Situation in Charleston is great. The room has storing space to dream of and is very quiet. Staff was professional, friendly and most helpful.
Good location to downtown historic district and better value than many other downtown hotels. Staff was very friendly and everything was very clean. Nice breakfast as well. Would stay here again.
perfect location, 5 min by car to Charleston airport,15 min by car to Charleston historical downtown, Clean spacy rooms with large TV, good breakfast, last but not least friendly staff
Gorgeous property and in the most perfect location to explore Downtown Charleston Historic District & French Quarter. Amazing staff that went above and beyond. 10/10 would recommend!!
For Charleston, whose central shopping district was little more than a 15-minute drive away, this place was a real bargain: about a third the price of a downtown hotel.
