Atleast a table top stove as the establishment is self catering. The hot plate provided limited us with regards to cooking.

The fabulous hosts made me feel welcome, spoilt, and cared for, even before I arrived. They really go the extra mile. I loved having breakfast in the garden. Honeysuckle is a short walk from the town centre, and far enough away to be a haven away from it. They have contingencies for water and power cuts. Thank you.
One of the best destinations in South Africa. The town lies amidst beautiful sandstone mountains, it has excellent restaurants and very interesting little shops. There are so many activities in the area like walking, mountain biking, quad biking and horse riding to name just a few. It is really a small town with a big heart!

The town has a number of interesting shops for homeware, clothing and home-produced preserves and food stuffs. There is a good range of restaurants and we enjoyed our meals at Clementine's, Gosto and the Clarens Brewery. Most places are to be found around the central grassy square and they are very easy to access..

Clarens is over commercialised.
Clarens is over commercialised. It mostly consists of numerous shops consisting of items you can find in many other places. The Emporium was a favourite. Excellent owner with a lot of details on the figuribes sold there. I thoroughly enjoyed buying my Burmese figure there. The art galleries are a must. Personally Clarens for me is more of a stop to go hiking and go to Golden Gate. It is too busy, bad roads - and I am used to potholes. The Protea hotel in the middle of town was a let down. Such a big hotel in nature was unnecessary. If you want to walk and just look at shops the town will work for you. Personally for me this is a good area to stop and go hiking and take a break from the city but other than that not somewhere I will visit frequently.

The hiking trails around Clarens are very well worth while doing and are not too strenuous, provided that you keep to the ones lower down the mountainside.
The town square is where it all happens and is a lovely buzz. Food outlets are good and plentiful.
From the hospitality from Karel, Bianca and staff, to the 5 star self catering apartment with all the little extra touches, this is my go to place from now on when visiting Clarens. Location was perfect. Within walking distance to the center which was ideal as you are not disturbed by the noise from the restaurants etc in the evenings. The views of the mountain from each room are spectacular which is a bonus. The breakfast made by Bianca was 5 star.
GPS coordinates only take you to the Clarens golf estate gate when you should actually drive another 14 km on the R 712 if not mistaken to see the farm board on your right hand side coming from Clarens towards Golden gate. Within 2 hours off reaching this destination I KNEW that I KNEW I am on HOLIDAY. I did not want to leave the lodge, all was great for body, mind and soul and spirit. Thank you for sharing this fully equipped property with your guest.
The location is just outside of Clarens and a quick 5 min drive into the town square. The host was very welcoming ,friendly and the property is lovely. Great view of the Maluti mountains and also a quick 15 minute drive into Golden Gate National Park. It's a small self catering cottage on residential property with braai facilities, wifi and a small kitchenette which is perfect if you not looking to make huge meals whilst vacationing.
The resort has fantastic facilities with entertainment for young and old. Perfectly situated close to Clarens and the Golden Gate. The scenery is spectacular and the staff do a great job at keeping the facilities in perfect condition. The facility manager (Tommy) was of great assistance during our stay. We will definitely be back and would recommend Kiara lodge to anyone.
Beautiful hotel in the perfect location to explore Clarens.
The hotel is great, the room was exactly what we expected - amazing view and very comfortable.
The facilities are all really nice, we enjoyed sitting at the restaurant and having a cocktail while admiring the view.
The staff were efficient and friendly, checkin was easy.
We picked Rosewood as it was extremely accessible to town. Only a few meters and you are there but still have the quietness of a country side getaway. We were very happy with how comfortable we were in the unit after a very long Motorbike trip. Wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy more of Rosewood and Clarens.
Everything was PERFECTO!! Warm and cozy. Expect for my drive to my destination, it felt like I did not even left my home. free fresh farm milk, home made biscotti and rusks ON THE HOUSE, a first for me in our sunny South Africa.
will definitely return to this second home of mine when I'm visiting Clarens again.
The place is newly built and is very neat and clean. Beautiful interior. Bed was very comfortable. The guesthouse is within walking distance from town. Beautiful bathroom with large bath. It was very cold in Clarens but there was a heater and electric blanket which made it very nice inside the room.
The accomodation was way beyond our expectations. It was like staying in a 5 star hotel. The owners were very willing to share their knowledge of the area and were always very friendly.
We cant wait to return as our 2 night stay was way too short.
Situated very close to the main square in Clarens, yet so peaceful, relaxing and quiet. The Butterfly Villa was very spacious and comfortable .Everything you need for self catering was provided. Will definately return.
Room was quite comfortable and warm. Breakfasts were superb.
Fire in bedroom was just bliss.
Dinner in hotel was nice with fire, though we felt uncomfortable being the only people in the dining room.
Mariaan is very friendly and send some helpful information about the loadshedding and other activities in Clarens. The room is spotlessly clean! Good linen. Perfect location. Relaxing atmosphere.
The hotel is beautiful but the staff made the staying experience memorable. They are kind and always available to help.
the best location in Clarens and the shuttle service is the best idea.
Location, Rooms, Facilities. Very nice garden. They are pet friendly. Fran was also friendly and accommodating. Very nice lounge, dining room area and fully equipped kitchen.
