Great, historic small town with the Nation's largest Civil War Battlefield that the National Park Service is constantly trying to restore/maintain to its 1863 setting. I highly recommend booking a licensed battlefield guide for a two hour tour of the battlefield. WELL worth the price.

Gettysburg is much more than its history, and the history itself will keep you busy for days. We found so many local businesses that we wanted to explore, hotels we'd like to stay in, and people that were so friendly. Could easily make a long weekend out of a visit, even in the off season.

The town was very cute. But it is a very "sleepytown".
The town was very cute. But it is a very "sleepytown". Everything closes so early including gas stations even on the weekends. So, if you are from the city like me make sure you do everything early including food. Most places close their kitchens between 9-10pm on the weekends.

We chose the self guided tour through Action Tour Guide.
We chose the self guided tour through Action Tour Guide. You pay online prior to your tour, download the app, and when you start at the designated location, the app uses GPS to guide you through a specific tour route.....with narration. VERY inexpensive, but thorough and informative. The 'human' guide prices were exorbitant. The only caution is that there are no restrooms on the tour route. So, in order to use facilities, you must leave the route and return to where you stopped on the tour route. The app doesn't help you find restrooms. In addition, most businesses (including 7 Eleven) would not allow someone to use their restroom. We had to travel back to Sheetz (2-3 miles out of our way) for hassle -free relief.

Gettysburg is a great place to visit.
Gettysburg is a great place to visit. We have been there many times and enjoy our time there. There is not only so much history to explore but the shopping is good too. When visiting, dining at the Dobbin House is a must. Best food in town

Thanksgiving is a great time to visit Gettysburg.
Thanksgiving is a great time to visit Gettysburg. The Thanksgiving buffet at the Gettysburg hotel offered a nice variety of entrees and vegetables. There are no crowds - even groups at the lighting of the Christmas tree were not overwhelming. The lack of leaves make the battlefield easier to view. Although cool, we had several hours or warm, bright sun.
Everything here was great. It was clean and neat and we were able to check in at our appointed time. They had a good variety in their breakfast foods with a good space of time in which to get breakfast. It was close to cemetery hill and within walking distance to the soldiers cemetery and the downtown area.
When we return to Gettysburg, we are definitely going to stay here again. We got a great value for our money and we were very pleased.
Chose hotel based on the best-bang-for-the-buck” near Gettysburg. Our search criteria was cheapest clean and safe hotel near Gettysburg that had a comfortable bed, fridge, microwave and a good review ratings. Operating a hotel is challenging. I hope guests will be kind and patient with the new owners because we got the sense that they are working hard to provide a clean and comfortable hotel. It’s not perfect, but it’s a good value hotel.
The location was good and close to Gettysburg National Park.
The Hotel was good. We walked into the Hotel Aspire first and thought how beautiful it was inside then we were told to drive around the back of the hotel to get to our room in the Eisenhower Hotel. It was scary at first but then we were told that the hotel is under renovation. Our room was clean and comfortable.
We only met 2 employees and both were very nice.
Great location right next to Gettysburg Cemetery and restaurants. Finding a place that will allow a 10#, hypoallergenic, friendly dog isn't easy so I was grateful this type of hotel exists. The staff was very friendly and hardworking. Since it was 95 degrees outside when we arrived, water bottles in the room's refrigerator would have been a nice touch. Overall though, it was a nice room near great attractions.
The breakfast had lots of options but the pancake machine was out of order which is one of my favorite parts of hotel breakfasts. I enjoyed the coffee, juice, yoghurt, warm cinnamon rolls, bagels with cream cheese and mini muffins. There was also eggs, sausage and gravy but I don’t like those. Ice machines on each floor and coffee and tea available always.
We've stayed here before and were comfortable, this time we brought along the family dog. Many of the hotels in Gettysburg are pet-friendly, but many don't advertise as such, making you call or hunt. They have an indoor pool and hot tub and outdoor pool, seasonally...the decision has always been an easy one.
Breakfast was a plus! We were on a 2 week vacation and stayed at several hotels with breakfast and your spot was the best of all of them! Well stocked and actually had flavor to the food. Location was great for us, we were in Lancaster, Hershey and Gettysburg which all were within distance for your hotel.
The location can't be beaten. You can walk to so many different shops & restaurants. The staff was also so very nice and helpful. They watched our luggage for a few hours after we checked out so we could enjoy Gettysburg for just a bit more. Their complimentary breakfast is really, really, good.
We liked that it was big enough to accommodate our family of 6 in one room. Great location for American Civil War museum and some places to eat. Breakfast cottage was nice and the breakfast was better than some other hotels we have stayed in recently. The coffee and waffles were good.
The location is fabulous. You can easily walk to restaurants. The Gettysburg National Visitors Center is close by. Part of the battlefield is directly across from the hotel. Hotel is clean, staff is nice. Light bulb needed changed in bathroom and it was taken care of in minutes.
Location
The gentleman at the front desk was so kind and helpful. We had been a road trip and this was out Gettysburg stop. The room was very clean and very roomy. The hotel was very close to the cute little town of Gettysburg.
It was a quiet restful stay at the working farm. It provided the rest and time for reflection that we desired. It was so close to Gettysburg without the business.
