The King, hotel in Fowey

Set 1 km from Readymoney Cove Beach, The King offers 4-star accommodation in Fowey and has a terrace, a restaurant and a bar.

Had the most gorgeous 2 night stay at The King. Stayed in the Super King room which is decorated beautifully and so classy. I’m sure the view from the room is one of the best in Fowey, overlooking the square and where the Polruan Ferry comes in. We stayed bed & breakfast and the breakfast was one of the best we have ever had. We finished our second night stay with a cheese board and bottle of wine sat on the perfectly positioned chairs soaking up the view from our room…perfection. We had our dog with us as well and she was very welcomed by all. Richard and Harriet are wonderful hosts and their personal attention really made our stay.

The Old Ferry Inn, hotel in Fowey

Set on the banks of the Fowey River Estuary in Bodinnick, The Old Ferry Inn has provided food and cosy accommodation for over 400 years. It features a panoramic restaurant and traditional Cornish pub....

We could not find the old Ferry. The reason being it was not only totally covered in scaffolding on the two sides visible from the road but it was also covered in workman. The car park was a building site which we could not enter as it had the builders vehicle in it. It is impossible to park within half a mile of the property unless you cross the Stuart by ferry and leave your car there. It was impossible to park to unload the car plus our two dogs. The builders told us the owner or anyone else was not there. It turns out the Inn doesn’t open until 3pm. We were never told of the scaffolding or works which included stripping part of the roof to one side of the room we should have been staying in which also had scaffolding right up to it. We did the only thing we could do and crossed the estuary and looked for another hotel. It was almost 3 pm and by a miracle saw the sign for The Fowey Hall Hotel. They’re dog friendly and had availability. This is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. It is immaculate inside and out with the most charming staff

Havener's, hotel in Fowey

Situated in Fowey, Havener’s Bar and Grill is an inn that offers rooms and an apartment. The unit is 35 km from Plymouth. All five bedrooms at the property feature a coastal theme.

Stunning property and even better staff. We checked in late so the restaurant were closed. But was greeted by the morning host/manager who kindly gave us a coffee to go and 2 croissants as we didn’t have time to stay for breakfast. Comfortable beds and nice pillow spray to help sleep. One of the best places I’ve stayed.

Fowey is a lovely, typical fishing village however it has the usual plethora of second homes, airbnb and rental properties. It’s not too commercial though. Lots of narrow streets and old buildings. We visited in March and it was lovely, I suspect that in the high season it will get very crowded. A nightmare to drive through!

Classic Cornish small coastal town nestled on the steep western bank of a creek. Full of character and plenty of real local people as well as tourists. Be prepared for a steep heart stopping climb to the central car par if you miss the Town (mini) Bus which appears every 15 minutes.Highly recommend Bufala Italian restaurant/.pizzeria - don't be put off by drab road facing entrance/waiting area. Pintxo tapas bar looked interesting but could not get a seat.

A very idyllic town, by the river Fowey, especially when the sun is out and sparkling on its surface. Excellent opportunities to walk along the coast, or to jump on to ferries and visit other towns. Some lovely beaches and coves nearby (Readymoney Cove is lovely and at walking distance from the centre) making it possible to dip into the river. Many links to Daphne du Maurier around the area - although Manderley is private (and under a different name) it’s easy to be enraptured by the atmosphere. Buses are just a couple and not very regular, but it’s still possible to visit the area even if you don’t own a car. I truly recommend.

    A delightful place to visit.

A delightful place to visit. Wonderful swimming at Readymoney Bay. Good long Beach for strolling at Par Bay a short drive out of Fowey. The town of Fowey is charming, set on the River. However the steep walk from and up to the upper part of town is a kittle challenging. Fowey offers a good selection of restaurants and shops.

Lovely location especially Readymoney beach and the shops & pubs. Little bit challenging getting to accommodation by car, to drop our bags off, as it’s a single road one way system. So if you miss it you either have to go round again or park up and walk back.

A really compact village/town with everything centrally placed, plenty of choice of drinking or eating places. Only downside is the carparking on the fringe of the town, you would need to catch the town taxi/bus if you have any mobility problems. Visit Llanhydrock Place the best National Trust property I've ever entered.

The whole atmosphere of the hotel was first class: the winding staircase, the friendly, professional staff, the food. Many of the staff had worked there for some years and were easy to talk with and very informative about the surrounding area. We met many people during our 3 night stay, from all over Britain and the continent. The relaxing atmosphere was just what my wife and I needed. Well done to all the staff for making us so welcome.

The local car park was £6.50 for 24hours, exceptional value. Bed comfortable The locals including the shop and bar staff were all extremely helpful and friendly and gave amazing service. Great location for exploring Fowey. Room small but excellent quality fixtures and fittings. The staff are also what make this hotel. They couldn’t be more friendly, accommodating and made us feel so welcome. Particularly Andy the Manager - he was first class. Nothing was too much trouble. He is a real credit to the business. Thank you so much.
