The town is very charming with lots of both local, mid range and upscale restaurants. The problem is with the roads. We drove 2 1/2 hours from Playa flamingo down the coast and fully half of that time was on rutted dirt roads. The town itself had ro ases that were worse than rutted with giant potholes sometimes two or 3 feet deep. It made us wish we had a four-wheel-drive which many of the locals drive. They called them quads, which are four wheeled ATVs. We were there in dry season so I can only imagine what happens to the roads in the rainy season. It would not be a pretty sight.

Costa Rica is a very special country, but what I like best of all in Nosara (Guiones/Pelada) are the people. Both Ticos (Costa Ricans) and expats are among the friendliest, most genuinely helpful and generous, and most laid back folks anywhere. And it is the gorgeous natural beauty and tranquility of this place that must be the cause.

Nosara is a small town and the area is not very developed. Driving was somewhat terrifying (more so than the zip lining, to be sure). The nature there is beautiful and preserved. I would recommend staying at a nice resort if you want to go there. There are several and this would have made our experience much better. Since we had a kitchen, we used the grocery store often. It had great products, but was not air conditioned.

Nosara is definitely a place to go if you like surfing.
Nosara is definitely a place to go if you like surfing. There are a variety of waves for all types of surfers and the beach is HUGE so there is a ton of room for all surfers. The water is warm and you can body surf, boogie board as well...you really want to be "into the ocean" to be in Nosara...we took beach cruisers from one to the other on the beach since the sand is compacted...that was a lot of fun...and a beautiful ride. People are GREAT in Nosara....we will return.

Nosara is a gorgeous little village by the beach, but it is fast changing. It is very now americanised, lots of new expensive houses are being built. Restaurants and bars are good, but more expensive than everywhere we have been in CR. Most shops, hotels bars and restaurants charge in $ (although you can pay cash in Colones).
I enjoyed Nosara, the Guiones Beach is gorgeous especially at sunset, but I did not feel like I was in CR. I think Samara would have been more what I was looking for.

More expensive than the average Costa Rican town, has been developing massively in the past few years, the road access is as poor as always though. Beaches are fantastic, restaurant options are amazing (this wasn’t the case a few years ago). The Nomadic Hotel a gem.
The staff was super welcoming and gave such a personal touch to our stay. The location by the beach (5 min jungle walk) is great and also very quiet area of Guiones beach - 8-10 min walk from all the shops and Restaurants. this allow a lot of wildlife to be explored within the resort (monkeys, iguanas, beautiful birds, etc). The surfing experience is great- excellent surf guides, my kids loved it 😍 Resturant had lots of delicious options and breakfast was great too.
We have two adjoining rooms for our stay at the Living Hotel, which was perfect for our family of 4. The rooms were simple, yet comfortable, clean and pretty with a lovely porch to sit on. The a/c and ceiling fans worked great. The hotel itself is charming with lovely gardens and a clean and well-kept pool. There's also a smoothie bar on the premises that offers delicious acai bowls (extra charge). We highly recommend it.
The staff were helpful in every way to make our 6 night stay feel like a home away from home. The kitchen staff put so much care and love into the beautifully prepared lattes, creative healthy smoothies and coffees. I loved the architecture design of this boutique hotel with inviting pool and yoga space. The free beach bikes were fun to drive along beach paths a nice bonus as well as free yoga and breakfast.
This place is amazing. Everything is perfect: The location with the view, the friendly staff, the rooms, the food, the pools, the nature, it’s clean, just wonderful. We‘ve seen a lot around the world but Lagarta Lodge is an unbeatable and beautiful hotel. A short drive to the beaches including Guiones (the hotel offers a shuttle service if you do not have a car).
The room was beautiful. The beach access was wonderful, a short jaunt and you could visit either side of the peninsula, one side having walkable, beachside restaurants, the other side a perfect spot to meet our surf instructor. The hotel food was amazing, even the free-breakfast. The staff was able to assist in arranging lastminute surf lessons and Covid testing.
We absolutely loved our stay at Norte! An ideal location with activities going on every day. the breakfast bowls were amazing and so were the fresh cocktails at night. Hotel staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. Very relaxing vibe and made our trip a vacation we’ll never forget! Highly recommend to anyone traveling to Nosara.
living hotel is total paradise! Very peaceful space to relax and hang out. Feels like a resort without all the people and centrally located. A shuttle picked us up from Liberia airport and we never needed a car. Short walk to the beach and restaurants and not a bad meal was had. This was my first taste of Costa Rica and it was a delightful stay!
The hotel is next to the Harmony hotel (same hotel chain) so it is in the center, close to the beach, and the service is excellent. Tatiana at the reception provided us with exceptional service. In general the whole staff was courteous. The room is clean, and the food in the restaurant is delicious.
This is a great boutique hotel. Perfect location for accessing the beach and right in front of the good surf. I also liked the shaded property and refreshing pool. The short walk to the center of town was easy. The Destiny restaurant attached to the hotel is amazing. The food there was phenomenal!
Amazing staff, friendly guests, and the best smoothies in Nosara. I loved the old school motel layout of the rooms around the pool. The food was great and made with care. Lots of comfortable nooks and crannies to hang out in the shade. Daily yoga is an added perk.
Nice hotel close to the beach and the village but in a quiet area. Lovely people working there. Rooms and bathrooms are really clean, beds are comfortable. You can borrow bikes, make surf, chill at the pool. Pretty garden.
Perfect place to stay in the Nosara area. Quiet, almost private beach just 5 minute walk away and Guiones about 15 minutes. EJ and the staff treat you like family. Will definitely return!
Hotel Guiones blends a beautiful mix of the natural world combined with amenities and a sense of luxury. The staff was exceptional—attentive to every need.
