The hotel is located in the heart of the Meteroa area, so it is easily accessible to all of the monastery sites. The hotel decor is very attractive. Staff greeted us warmly and enthusiastically. In addition to providing a map, they shared a guide book for our use during the stay. We had chosen a less expensive room, but were delighted to have a small porch with view of a majestic rock formation. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty.

Stayed in the quieter village of Kastraki but drove the short distance to adjoining larger town of Kalabaka to see the 11c Byzantine church.
The busier streets of Kalabaka are not overwhelming and offer a contrast to the gentler vibe of Kastraki.
Kalabaka is a commercial centre with busy streets and cafes, some of which continue the improper practice of caging songbirds for the ‘interest’ of customers!
We were pleased we stayed in Kastraki at the Doupiani House Hotel and appreciated the evening strolls through quiet jasmine-scented streets, where we were occasionally accompanied by wandering tortoises or inquisitive local cats.

Meteora was by far, one of our favorite places in Greece.
Meteora was by far, one of our favorite places in Greece. The landscape is unique and amazingly beautiful. The monasteries are incredible pieces of architecture, and the little churches inside, are real jewels of Byzantine art. The sites are really crowded and parking is not easy (and this was in May!!!) also, the churches are so small that sometimes queuing is necessary in order to access them. Even though we checked previously and carefully the opening times, two of the six monasteries could not be visited without any apparent reason, which was very inconvenient for us. The whole region is dedicated to tourism so great hotels and restaurants are everywhere.

The monasteries are lovely but the public transport (bus) to move around them is limited if you only want to visit one or two. Our time was limited so we took the 9am bus up to the main meteron monastery and walked down to Varlaam and Rossenou (St Barbara) convent. We were finished here by 12 but had to walk back to Kalambaka as there was no bus until 14:30 and we had a bus to catch for our onward journey. We walked down to Kastraki and had a quick bite and walked on to Kalambaka. It was an easy walk and took about 40 mins but this was in April so not too hot.

Kalabaka is a city with traditional houses and Meteora is very close. You can visit some of the monasteries. We went to the museum of physical history with animals and birds that lived there, which was very nice, to the mushroom museum and to the digital projection center of Meteora's history and culture. The food also was excellent.
We really enjoyed our overnight stay at the hotel. The best thing about it are the great views of Meteora from the balcony. Picture Perfect! The hotel is quite large and spacious, plenty of parking in front of the hotel. The rooms are clean and fine although and basically comfortable. Also - don't forget to bring your bathing suit if you want to enjoy the spa with its swimming pool, sauna, salt room and hamam. A lovely way to wind down your day after hiking Meteora's cliffs!
The best hotel we stayed in our 10 day trip to Greece! The people were so amazing and friendly and helpful! We loved the lady who made the breakfast (which was delicious by the way) she was so sweet and friendly we wanted to adopt her to be our yiayia! We didnt have time to use the pool but it looked so cool! Very close to the train station you have to cross the tracks to get there, or you can go around if you have big luggage. Thank you so much for everything!
This place reminded me of a mountain retreat…and it was literally on the other side of the railroad tracks from the train station…and only a few blocks off the Main Street. We did a Meteora afternoon tour and a morning tour the next morning…easy access…good food in the main square area. Perfect. And then there was breakfast! In three weeks in Greece…maybe our best experience in lodging, access, overall hospitality.
Very nice and helpful staff. The breakfasts were fabulous---lots of options and homemade dishes, all delicious. The hotel has beautiful views of the Meteora. The Lobby is very classy and lovely. The grounds are lovely, with flowering plants and fruit trees all over. Many places to sit outside and enjoy the wonderful views. We enjoyed walking into the town of Katraski. Our room was clean and comfortable.
Room was nice, rather small but I was only there for 2 nights so it was fine. Buffet breakfast was available and the staff there is lovely and always ready to help. Location is near the meteora, if you want to head out to Kalabaka you will need to drive. Also, staff was really nice - I left something behind at the hotel and they messaged me after I left to see if I would like to come back to collect them.
The best hotel in Greece! Kastraki is the most beautiful village and this is the best hotel there! The room was gorgeous, the staff so welcoming and friendly, and the complimentary breakfast was incredible. They served the most delicious Greek food, and lots of it! I can’t wait to go back. I’ve stayed in many nice hotels around the US and other countries, and this was by far my favorite!
This is not a typical hotel but more like a bed and breakfast. The owners were very kind, accommodating and helpful. The buffet breakfast included local foods, fresh eggs, fruit, yogurt, cappuccino and much more. The views are amazing - the city on one side and Meteora landscape on the other. My family and I really enjoyed our stay and appreciated the peaceful environment.
The hotel is ideally located at the bottom of Meteroa monasteries, and close to everything (main streets, train station, bus, museums, supermarkets, etc). The staff is very nice. The WiFi works very well. It is clean. The staff even provided us a kettle so we could make tea in the room. We will definitely come there again when we will be back in Kalabaka.
The room was not so big, but it was comfortable. The bathroom had a window, which I find always good, and my room had a big terrace. Kastrakis is a wonderful town, there are many restaurants just close to the hotel and Meteora is a couple of kilometers distant. Everything you will see around here is wonderful! I have enjoyed it a lot, thank you!
Has everything needed for one night stay. Breakfast was really good - almost like 4 star hotel in Athens. Good cappuccino and you can choose milk or almond milk.
Bed was very comfortable.
Very clean everywhere.
Very nice staff.
Located at the entry point toward Meteora and easy to start hiking up.
Expect what is written in the description.

Also the staff was very nice and helpful and smiling all the time. And ofcourse it's on a stones throw from the Monasteries of Meteora and with a view from the balcony.
Outstanding views from the back of the property to the Meteora rocks. Breathtaking even at night from the balcony. Owner was extremely nice and kind, even helped with my luggage when we arrived at 9am.
Breakfast was the best we’ve had in Greece so far.
Only wished we would’ve stayed longer.
The host was very helpful. The restaurant he recommended was one of the best restaurants we visited in Greece. In addtion, we left our baggage in the property when we checked out. He took the baggage to his home and later delivered it to the train station.
Cozy, small hotel. The location was close to the train station and all the restaurants. Rooms had everything you need, nice view from terrace. the staff was super nice and helpful with all the tips to get around Meteora on foot! Very much recommended.
Perfect location and beautiful view of Meteora. Breakfast was delicious with lots of local, homemade items. The honey and yogurt was very tasty. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. Beautiful patio area too. I would highly recommend this hotel!
Amazing view, great location. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. Great value for price. The breakfast was also great and the host that welcomed us was very nice and helped us plan our trip for Meteora :)
