Gairloch is an easily accessed centre from which to explore the western Highlands; it also has some very acceptable sandy beaches. There are plenty of hotels and B&Bs in Gairloch, but many are closed in winter.

Glass bottomed boat trip to see the seals highly recommended...
Glass bottomed boat trip to see the seals highly recommended. Knowledgeable skipper who allowed some of the children to drive the boat and earn a certificate.
Gairloch Museum, in a former nuclear bunker, is really well laid out and interesting for adults and children. The café is great too, with a view from its terrace.
Don't miss Inverewe Garden, and allow several hours to walk around this surprising collection of trees & plants which really shouldn't be able to thrive here! Great views too.

The accommodation here is amazing.
The accommodation here is amazing. It has friendly staff and the most beautiful view, from the lounge room it has one of the most breath-taking views in all of Scotland.
The hostel is remote from the main town (think car / not walk), but the caravan park is close enough to walk (15 mins). We experienced an unexpected 5 star dining experience at this restaurant and ate like kings!

We were impressed with the range of shops and cafes locally.
We were impressed with the range of shops and cafes locally. The Myrtle Bank Hotel was excellent both for food and price. The community Hub is also an excellent facility. The views across the area are stunning and the weather was superb. There is a local museum which we didn't have time to visit. We were very happy with our choice of holiday and would like to come back.
There was no dinner option as fully booked ??? Never did I expect to have to go out of the hotel for food . Parking was adaquate and room was ok , shower was very poor and the bathroom door didn’t lock , not the end of the world but unacceptable at the price . Reception tried to charge us for breakfast until I pointed out our price included breakfast . Luckily we found a carry out place for dinner but there’s not a lot of choice in Gairloch near the hotel .
The breakfast was a true delight - no grease and packed full of taste. Superb facilities and staff were friendly, polite and gave the impression that they were happy to help with any query. Stunning views as well, especially if you catch a break in the weather and have a sunny day over the Gairloch!
The view, the view, and the view. A few steps and you're literally in the water, much, much closer than local hotels. We slept with the window cracked open to listen to the sea. We will be back next year for sure. Gairloch is a stunning place in its own right with everything you need.
Superb position on the beachfront
Very busy in restaurent but service and food was excellent with a good choice menu
Helpful and friendly staff. The owner is a lovely chap.
Plenty of space to relax indoors and outdoors.
Would like to return sometime in the future.
Fabulous hotel right in Gairloch. Beautiful location and amazing coastal views. June the concierge was extremely helpful and informative of the area. Would definitely book again if travelling this way. Good choice of menu for dinner and breakfast. Comfortable beds.
A truly lovely and very comfortable cottage in good location with beautiful views over the bay in Gairloch, a scenic, remote spot in Scotland's north. Spotless clean with everything provided a guest can wish for. Friendly owners. A true gem and feel good place.
Very much appreciated the later check in which allowed me to make the most of the dry weather. Lovely comfortable accommodation. Very clean and cosy. Slept soundly. Has great views in good weather. Close to all the spots I wanted to photograph. Nice hosts.
We appreciated the space and cleanliness of the room. The owners of this B&B are very kind (once again thanks for everything!). They think of everything. This B&B is also very close to the starting points of some interesting hikes near Gairloch.
Accommodation is very close to Gairloch port, beach and town centre. Gairloch is a really nice place and a good 'basecamp' for exploring the Western highlands. Mobile phone service at the accommodation was fairly good, as was the TV and DVD.
We loved the location of this hotel. The falconry is also amazing and we booked a experience for our son which was great value for money. He loved it. The hotel inside is lovely and the views from the lounge, breakfast rooms are beautiful.
set in the charming town of Gairloch the hotel is right on the water. I was able to get an a beautiful hike right down on the beach that takes you into town and then walked on the roads back to the hotel. It was magnificent.
There is a restaurant/bar on-site with excellent food. Loved the outside patio near the old bridge. The staff was pleasant and we had fun with the other guests. Hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere.
Great location and superb view. Nice breakfast. Restaurant had a good selection for evening meal and was a reasonable price. The hotel took Covid measures very seriously.
