The Broome Bird Observatory is a quiet out of town experience. Even though we are not bird people we loved the interaction with them. We stayed in a cabin - with shared bathrooms - the rooms were comfortable enough - we're not talking 5 star accommodation here, but they were comfortable and clean. The bathrooms and showers, were in a separate building - and you share them with some nature - ie: tree frogs :-) The road out is a bit challenging if you do not have a 4WD but we made it in with our 2WD Rav4. There are plenty of tours for the bird watchers to take (book early) and some walking tracks to take. Evenings and early morning at the shade house/camp kitchen are a must with wallabies and birds coming in for their morning and evening drinks from the bird baths, Highly recommended.

We are located at the end of Crab Creek Road. DO NOT FOLLOW GOOGLE MAPS OR GPS DIRECTIONS, see our website for correct directions. Featuring air conditioning, Broome Bird Observatory offers accommodation in Broome. Broome is 25 km away. Free private parking is available on site. All units have a seating area. Property information

The Broome Bird Observatory was established in 1988 by the RAOU (Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union), now BirdLife Australia, as a research and education facility, our principle aim is to work for the conservation of the migratory shorebirds which visit Roebuck Bay. It is located 25km out of Broome on the shores of Roebuck Bay, we advise using a 4WD to access our accommodation. Please visit our website for directions to the observatory, Google/Apple Maps WILL provide wrong directions.

Our unique surrounding include include the Roebuck Bay Marine Park, Yawuru Conservation Estate, dinosaur footprints and over 100,000 migratory shorebirds!
