The hotel is in the historic center, just 10 minutes walk to the Zocalo and 20 minutes walk to the Ethnobotanical Garden. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Fresh towels and water bottles are supplied daily. Air conditioning was key to our choice because the days were in the 90sF.

Great property, with classic jallosy windows, well-maintained and quiet. Rooms were large and clean, reception was tentative and welcoming. Pool looked really clean, but right next to the restaurant (good to sit eat and let your friends/family play in it!). Housekeeping was REALLY friendly and efficient, as well. Not in a walkable area (near highway and kind of industrial area), but is easy to find for Didi or Rappi if you need a ride.

A beautiful and lively city with excellent food. There is a strong sense of community in Oaxaca. There are people out on the street at night celebrating and socializing at all hours, something we do not get in Canada. I love visiting cities like this where the streets seem to belong to the people. There is a strong political undercurrent, with pro-palestine graffiti and proletarian political graffiti. If you are someone, like me, who believes that politics are important, this is a good place to visit.

So many great places to see and way too many great restaurants to try! One absolute must is the Bodeaga Bakery on Miguel Hidalgo
Casa Oaxaca was a delightful culinary experience. Monte Alban was overwhelming to see.

Historic, colorful town with lots of fabulous restaurants (...
Historic, colorful town with lots of fabulous restaurants (I'm vegan and had no trouble finding many places that were entirely so with exciting menus using local ingredients and sauces). Our favorite was Hierba Dulce but also several other great ones, Herbivora, Veriditas Cocina Vegana). Street scene was always exciting with lots of art (get the graphics passport at one of the gallery/ workshops; get it stamped at each one to get a discount. It comes with a map). We saw several street parades with live bands and giant animated figures in celebration of weddings and graduations. Botanical garden was beautiful but the tour was tedious, with little useful information (but I'm a botanist and I would have preferred to walk around without 40 other people). Monte Alban is magnificent archeological site not far from town. It has excellent signage. Poke around on your own and take your camera. Beware of vendors selling "artifacts that they found in their corn field"-- surely fakes and it's illegal to take real artifacts out of the country.

City is beautiful but overrated.
City is beautiful but overrated. It depends on what else in south you have seen? We have been to other parts of Mexico, Peru, Colombia…Food quality and menus seem overhyped too. I often found myself chewing on corn…

We loved the authenticy of this city. Not a lot of tourists.
We loved the authenticy of this city. Not a lot of tourists. Learn some basic spanish and have google translate at the ready. the food and art is the best part of this city. Outstanding food and Mezcal. Great shopping for all pricepoints. Quality textiles. We came in early April and it was quite hot by mid day but if you walk on the shady side of the street and bring lots of water you will be OK. It cools down to be toterable in the early evening. Alway felt safe and the local people are friendly but not in your face trying to sell you trinkets. It is a relatively clean city and lots of people out and about. The Saturday night life was great. people were out having fun until almost 4 am! I would not recommend staying in the front room of any hotels as the road noise can be loud with lots of buses rubling down the narrow main streets.
Highly reccomend the baked goods at boulent blanc hotel bakery and lunch st LOS Danzantes.( get the mole sampler as an appetizer, you will be blown away by flavor, get extra plantain dumplings and its a meal!
Enjoy a wonderful week in this fabulous city.

Regardless of your interests, there is something here for everyone. We stayed a week and saw ruins, textile artisans, ate well, visited areas of interest and didn't even scratch the surface. Oh, and the food is fabulous.
The location is gorgeous, the room has everything you need, the hotel has snacks available throughout the day but the best part about this place is the staff, specifically Issa. I had a truly bad bout of food poisoning (not from Oaxaca but a town I had visited the day before) which peaked at 1am when she had her shift. She made me tea, helped call medical staff and went above and beyond to make me as comfortable as possible in an extremely uncomfortable situation. I am so truly grateful and was able to finally get to some decent sleep.
This was my second stay at this place and I would come back again and again, wonderful and cozy area with lots of places where you can retire. Very caring and polite workers and hostess. And the view from the window will be in my best dreams. A very beautiful street, along which you can go to the very center; there is a grocery store right opposite the stairs from the hotel. My daughter and I stayed for a week this time, but that was not enough to enjoy this place and the city. Thank you very much for your attention and hospitality.
Our reception by Jesus with our last minute booking was very welcoming. He helped us find a wonderful room to meet all our needs and offered us complimentary parking for our rental car in the center of a very busy city and only half a block from the hotel. The mattress and pillows can use a little improvement, but without any doubt, this hotel has the BEST shower in all of Mexico, and we slept well. Thank you for preserving such a wonderful landmark hotel.
Everything about our stay was absolutely excellent!! Hector and his staff were super friendly, handed over the keys on our arrival and showed us around the property. Hector allowed us to stay past our check out time and helped us arrange a mini van to the airport with all our luggage. The hotel itself was super super super clean, the location is perfect for Oaxaca city. Thank you for everything Hector - we will be back for sure. Xx
EVERYTHING! It was the best hotel we stayed in Mexico. Love the location, interior, staff, comfortness. Even when the check in/out process was all online and without key, i still felt very well taken care by host Ana and staff Rosi. Everything are well communicated over whatsapp and even when there was questions/issues, it was solved very fast. The hospitality level is just incredible. Ana will do her best to make us feel relax.
the best staff in Oaxaca! they helped me out in a real bind. I left my backpack (with important items) in a restaurant between puerto escondido and Oaxaca and they coordinated the shipping back to Oaxaca.
otherwise, the hotel is quite nice too. clean, quiet, reasonably priced, our double room even had a mini fridge, which has been a rare thing in my travels throughout Mexico (7 months or so).
The best part of staying here was the breakfast provided. As a solo traveller, it was nice to have the central open air dining area to come to in the morning and have the option to meet others staying at the B&B during breakfast.
Location was also very good and walking distance to main areas in Oaxaca City. Liked the extra touch of providing a hat and a local reusable bag in each room.
The hotel is in the heart of Oaxaca City - located close to the zocalo, many markets, cathedrals, shops and museums. The staff was very friendly, helpful and observant. They even celebrated my birthday with a birthday cake, song and decorated our roomm. The holiday (Dia de los Muertos) decorations were very charming. The breakfast is nice and located in the quiet interior courtyard.
The hotel's room is cozy and clean when we arrive; it is the place we are looking for, with few guests, and the location is excellent, a nice spot in the center of Oaxaca City. The owner was friendly and kind; she gave us many recommendations about tour guides and private taxis; we enjoyed our stay in Casa Olié.
This is a gorgeous boutique style hotel in a great location. We were able to walk everywhere. The room was very spacious and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was basic but fine. The staff were very helpful and there is a nice restaurant and pool area.
Beautiful traditional Mexican family hotel. 4 floors facing internal courtyard with pool in the middle. lovely breakfast on the terrace above. Staff quite helpful. 8 kitchenette rooms where guests stay for longer periods. Very friendly atmosphere.
the room was clean and comfortable. the location of the hotel is perfectly central, close to the best restaurants and cafe’s. the breakfast is spectacular and the service is top notch. this hotel deserves a 10/10
A great hotel.Really nice casual communal areas. Breakfast was really incredible and some of the best food we had in oaxaca. We were gutted when we had an excursion leaving early and had to miss breakfast.
This is a charming small boutique-style hotel with a lot of nice details. The room was nice, spacious and very clean. Also, we enjoyed the breakfast very much, as well as the intimate atmosphere.
This hôtel is beautiful and located on a gorgeous neighborhood close to zócalo. The rooftop is as well very nice with pool and great view.
The employees were great all the time
Very friendly staff - the best part about the hotel. We had a huge room on the top floor - the red room with a terrace. It was a comfortable place to stay for a week.
Lovely hotel in the middle of Oaxaca City, staff made me feel welcome and accommodated all my requests. Room was comfortable, spacious and had a nice balcony.
