Location. We visited my family in Gakuen-toshi, which is only about 5 mins away from this hotel. There are lots of hotels in Sanno-miya, which is toword the other direction from my family’s place. But it takes about 25 mins, which was too much for us.

Often overlooked in favour of its neighbour, Osaka, Kobe is an absolute gem of a city. It has a multitude of attractions, from the port and harbourside parks to the wonderful Nunobiki herb garden and hillside hikes on the other side of the city, to the old foreign merchants houses in Kitano Ijinkan-gai and the Motomachi and Sannomiya entertainment and shopping areas, there's a huge amount to see and do in Kobe. We gorged ourselves on amazing food, saw historic houses, enjoyed walking through nature, enjoyed food markets and took a harbourside tour. Bakery RIKI near our accommodation in Motomachi sold the most amazing pastries and Nankin-machi (Chinatown) had a wonderful, crowded, hectic atmosphere with hundreds of stalls selling cheap, absolutely delicious food. We will definitely visit Kobe again.

The availability of the shuttle bus to Sannomiya was extremely helpful and it ran frequently that we could accomplish what we wanted. The 30th floor dining area was simply wonderful. It had a beautiful view and selection of food and drinks were great.

i travel to kobe for work regularly and usually don't do much sight seeing there; it is easy to find my way around, find restaurants and there is easy access to all sorts of places to visit in the kansai area; once we stayed at the outskirts of kobe, up the mountains, with stunning views of the harbour (private accommodation, sadly gone now) but there are some other nice places to stay in and around the city

Kobe has a long history as a port town.
Kobe has a long history as a port town. If you come to Osaka or Kyoto, you should also visit Kobe. You will feel the atmosphere and characteristics of a sophisticated city that is completely different from these two. Compared to these two cities, Kobe has wider sidewalks and more walkable areas, but the city as a whole is compact and easy to get around. If you stay in Kobe, I highly recommend a hotel with a night view of the port city.

We stayed in Kobe three days during this Japan tour - it was just enough to enjoy the city (Chinatown, the covered market streets, the port area, the 'foreigner's area', and a nice small treck along mount Rokko waterfalls and gardens. Kobe is a medium size city, not overwhelming and easy to visit by foot.
The hotel was very close to the venue I was going to see a concert at, so it was convenient. Also very close to public transportation. It is probably close to many things of interest in that area. The staff was excellent and most of the customer-facing staff I encountered was at least English/Japanese bilingual (which may be of interest to those using this site). The breakfast buffet at the restaurant on the 30th floor was very nice and had a great view. The room was very clean, no signs of wear noticed. Everything felt very fresh and new.
Great view of the city Kobe from the window in my room. It was fantastic view!
Also hotel is 5 star and very good service and facilities.
Only there is some hotel staff wasn't nice to us without reason at restaurant.
He was very nice to other Japanese guest who looks like many years customer of this hotel.
That's was only issue. All other staff were very very nice.
I like this hotel service more than Okura Tokyo.
Very comfortable, clean room perfect for one traveler. With more than one it would be a little tight. There was plenty of room to open my suitcase at the end of my bed, which was a nice change from some Japanese hotels. The location was very close to the station, which was very convenient. The McDonalds next door can also be convenient for breakfast or late night food. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Booked corner room for 2 nights, the sofa beside the window is a cozy spot to chill out. twin beds were comfortable and room was decently sized. Hot spring was great too as there were 3 pools (cold, medium hot (indoors) and hotter (outdoors)). Breakfast was ok. Requested front counter staff to help make reservation for restaurants as couldnt speak Japanese, they were helpful and didnt turn down any request.
Japanese rooms are quite small, but this had a large bathroom and a very good, practical layout that allowed me to comfortably seat at the desk, at the coffe table, hanging clothes and have my luggage open without stumbling anywhere.. I liked the super central location, it was clean, and my room hat a window that I could open, which is great.
Nothing fancy, but a solid choice for nice Kobe.
The place was pretty quaint in an iconic part of Kobe.
The rooms were a good size compared to your average business hotel.
The breakfast was absolutely amazing - I'm talking dedicated hamburger and waffle stand, cheese fondue, and all of the usual western and Japanese offerings. It's honestly the best breakfast I've had at a hotel in Japan (and I live here).
The Hotel is well located, near the subway station and the Kobe downtown. The room was large, with a nice view of the mountains, very cozy and clean. The staff was very cordial and friendly! The breakfeast has a lot of options. I dont speak japanese, but this wasn't a problem here. Defenitely I could stay here again.
Clean.
Good location, close to Shin-Kobe station, and a short walk to Sannomiya station.
Breakfast was taken at the Matsuya restaurant and although there were only 4 options, they were good, with both Japanese and Western options.
Good value at about $250 for 3 nights (including breakfast).
Lovely hotel, lovely service, great breakfast and dinner buffet. We had a wonderful view of the harbour and the Ferris wheel from our room on the tenth floor. As for room size, fine for Japanese standards, slightly cramped for us, but absolutely comfortable. We had a great time here.
Great location - just a short walk from Sannomiya Station. Free Happy Hour drinks and snacks from 5pm-7pm. An outdoor giant chess board for entertainment during happy hour. And, of course, comfortable rooms with some of the best smelling soap and shampoo I have come across in Japan.
This was such a great find. We had never been to the Arima area before and we loved our stay here. We splurged and booked the rooms with open air onsens and it was fantastic! Loved having the espresso maker in the room (not standard in Japan) and the open living space.
The location is good, between Kobe Sannomiya and Shin-Kobe stations. I think this area is more attractive than near to Kobe Station. The room is quite confortable for its price. The breakfast, in Japanese style, comes with a lot of food.
The area is quite but not central. Still, it is about 20 minutes walking from the main station and the center, so not that far. The room was larger than usual for the price compared to other hotels in Japan.
Bathtub in the junior suite was amazing. The kaiseki dinner was great, but just make sure you like all kinds of food. Brush up on your japanese because the staff english is not the best.
It was overall very clean, delicious meals (especially Japanese traditional dinner provided in our own room by the staff), staffs were very welcoming and kind, loved on-sen (hot spring)
it was very beautiful traditional japanese style that had comfy beds and great location. they provide you with a free drink at the cafe at breakfast! and great heating system.
It is a standard Japanese hotel. Bigger than the usual. Comfortable and clean. Walking distance to family mart/7-11. Near Port Kobe. Nearby cheap parking.
