The island is small but you can use up a lot of time and energy if you don't rent some type of vehicle to navigate. It appeared that many people come for a day trip and pack in as much as possible. I'm glad we allowed 3 days to take in everything at a more leisurely pace. Restaurants were a little different. Our experience around the world has been that if the place is open, they have food available. Not so here. It can be open today but not serving food until a day and a half later. Just drinks.

I loved Terre-de-Haut.
I loved Terre-de-Haut. It has a nice little center with lots of restaurants and bars. It has a cosy feeling to it.
Do visit the fort Napoleon and the beaches. Even though sea grass is taking over the beaches they are still nice to look at. The Pain du Sucre beach is still free of sea grass so it is a bit crowded when the ferries deliver the visitors for a day.
My favorite restaurants were Colours du Monde and Ti-bu Doudou. Do check the opening times as they are different during the low season.
It's easy enough to get an electrical car but it is wise to book ahead. Green Car and Acqua Blue are amongst the options. Green Car never responded to my messages but Acqua Blue did and they were very nice.
You can use the facilities of hotel Bois Jolie as long as you eat there (lunch or dinner).
Very pretty, pleasant, private. the woman on duty my first night was exceptionally helpful. The hotel is a 5 minute drive to the main drag for food, and across the street from a solid, casual restaurant. Parking was free and safe. Breakfast was extra but quite tasty.
Oh, and if you’re reading this in English, you better start practicing your French. The hotel staff spoke English (thanks!) but the other guests were French—which is the case everywhere on Guadeloupe.
Beautiful location to watch the sunset and a gorgeous private garden with the occasional hummingbird. Excellent snorkelling out the front door (we accessed the beach from the hotel jetty next door as it's quite rocky in front of the house). Comfy bed, appreciated the air con and loved hearing the waves at night. Well equipped kitchen with oven - we didn't cook but looked well equipped. Beautifully decorated. Short walk into town with some lovely restaurants.
