The sao bento market was 2 blocks away and I ate in a really good restaurante 2 min walking (Vaccarum).

The hotel is an Art Deco gem, with public areas and furnishings apparently untouched since that era. Excellent location in the heart of the old city. Beds ok. Our room was very quiet, because it was at the back. Decent breakfast.

Porto is so beautiful!
Porto is so beautiful! We found the people to be so friendly, welcoming and helpful. We took a 3 hour walking tour around the city, which gave us a good understanding of the history and provided a taste of some of the places we considered revisiting later on to explore further. The Douro valley / river, was the place I loved the most!! Couldn’t get enough of its beauty. We went back there, for a 2 hour sailing trip, which was pretty awesome. Sao Bento, the train station, is also a popular tourist attraction, which definitely should be visited. Each wall of the station has its own unique story. We are coffee lovers and enjoyed quite a few of the coffee shops around. Our favorite restaurant was “honest greens” and I highly recommend it. Overall, Porto is a place you’d really enjoy exploring when in Portugal.

Porto itself is a wonderful city.
Porto itself is a wonderful city. We were dismayed to find the hotel closed and boarded up. However, another hotel was available and this was very good. We would have struggled without the help of our very friendly taxi driver. Porto is very steep and has many steps, which would not be ideal for anyone with mobility issues. There are tuk-tuks available for tours, also plenty of buses and a couple of tram routes. We enjoyed visiting many sites of interest, including buildings and gardens. We took a trip on the river - a coach took us one way, and we sailed back. This was a full day trip which was wonderful. There are many, many places to eat.

Porto is centred around Port wine (obviously) and a trip round one of the Port Houses is essential (we visited Taylors). There are many Restaurants in Porto and it is best to find the Portuguese ones to get an authentic taste of Portugal.

Rich in culture and bustling activities taking place near the river. However, the biggest downside is the ease of topping up the transport card. Even though the metro and bus systems are well developed and integrated, and easy to use, it is not as straightforward when topping up the transport card. Foreign visitors will find it challenging to figure out how to determine how much value needs to be added to the transport card to complete the desired trips.
The situation was a little bit unusual because I rent the room just per one night to a old guy I don't knew... Hey just needed somewhere to stay till his medical appointments in the other day (Mr. Luis is from Bragança, a far away village from Portugal). It was Sunday, everywhere we tried was already full then I booked this room.
The staff is very nice and don't discriminated the old guy (what I was afraid about). Nice room, very clean and very well lighted!
I truly recommend! :)
It was our first check-in process (out of 4) in Portugal and it was seamless. We used some Portuguese and some English and it was fine. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was amazing, huge variety from 0 carb to max carb, vegan/veggie to carnivore. Best of all was the location; it was pretty much central to everything we did in Porto and exiting the front door takes you on to a pedestrian only street with shops and cafes that is almost always streaming with people.
Highly recommended. 100 % unbelievable.
An amazing experience.
My children really loved it and it was super cool to them sleeping and living on a boat!
He had everything we needed with a very good high quality breakfast -
The host Osvaldo and his son, Thiago, were eager to help.
They made every single thing perfect.
We wish Osvaldo were our uncle in Portugal.
We would like to stay in sleep yatch hotel in the other places in our future.
This is a great hotel in a perfect location in Porto. It's part of a small chain of hotels called FLH (Feels Like Home) that we weren't familiar with but we'll be looking to use again next time we're in Portugal.
The room was on the large side for Europe and extremely well equipped. The morning breakfast buffet was sufficient and the fact that they'll cook you eggs on demand is a nice touch.
I would not hesitate to stay at the Memoria Porto hotel again.
Everything about this hostel is amazing! The price is extremely reasonable and you even get breakfast included! - the best hostel I have ever stayed in.. it feels more like a hotel than a hostel.
The hostel staff are extremely helpful, friendly and welcoming.
I would 10000% recommended this hostel to anyone that’s thinking of visiting Porto, Portugal. It’s located in the middle of the centre near train station, shops, restaurants and the river front!
Friendly staff, great location to stroll around the city center, offers a lot of services (restaurant, leaving luggage at a hotel desk).
Despite the generally high humidity level in Portugal in winter, the room in Yotel was very warm and dry.
Keep in mind that the shower/toilet are not located in a separate room, but separated from the bedroom by a frosted glass shield. Not a problem for us, but good to know.
I frequently meet hotel staff who are annoyingly obsequious, but not here. I found every member of staff extraordinarily convivial, patient with an english-only speaking American, and genuinely friendly and interested in making my stay a comfortable one. I am wrapping up a month in Portugal and this has been my favorite and most memorable accomodations because of the quality of staff.
We were looking for a good value hotel for our last night in Portugal and Pao de Acucar was ideal for this. Location was great, near the main train station with good metro and bus connections. Easy to walk down to the river. Room was bigger than we were expecting and the shower was great. The receptionist who greeted us was very helpful and spoke excellent English.
Best hotel during our entire trip across Portugal! Staff were friendly. Location is gold. Facilities are great (would be better to have more mirrors as the one in the room is a reflexive window from the bathroom), love all the inside jokes to entertain guests from all the stuff displayed in the room. Basically staying here is another one unique experience on its own.
Best location, nice staffs, neat room condition, good breakfast
Everything was satisfying 😊 we came to portugal for our honeymoon, and porto was the first city we met in Portugal.
Its such a lovely city and thw teatro hotel was super good. If someone I know has plan to travel Porto, I will definetly recommend here
Very helpful and kind hosts. The hotel is located on a street on good place for walks around the city, close to metro and next door from a good restaurant. Room was clean and well furnished. Breakfast was tasty, on an outdoor porch. Overall a very good introduction to Portugal which made our stay awesome.
FLH is our new favorite hotel chain in Portugal! Each one we've stayed in has been perfectly located, clean, well-appointed, quiet (despite traffic or pedestrians outside) with friendly, knowledgable staff and a delicious full breakfast. We highly recommend it!
The staff was amazing - particularly Luis, Luisa, and Sam. They all went above and beyond to make our stay at Guest House Douro the best of our 2 week vacation in Portugal. And, you cannot beat the location!
loved the time in Sintra after the crowds were gone. felt like a local. owner very responsive and helpful. liked having a washer and clothesline since we were halfway though our time traveling in Portugal.
Loved the thematic floors, showcasing trade goods important to the rise of Portugal. The rooms were spectacular, and the central location made this a easy hotel to get around town from.
The hotel was clean, modern, and had very flexible in room temperature regulation (AC, heat, etc.). By far the best hotel we stayed in during our trip to Portugal.
Hotel and staff was OK, this hotel is not only for turists I think. Very clean. Very good breakfest. We shall be back if we shal come to Portugal again for sure
