I loved Helen. This as our first trip. I did not realize the amount of shops closed during the off season (end of January) However, We still had a really good time. Loved how quaint. ALL of the people were friendly. My favorites on this trip was Heidelberg, Hancel and Gretel candy. And then we topped the evening off over at Bettys across the street on the patio with some really , really tasty beer. The people and the bar tenders were so friendly. It seemed like we were all friends for a long time.

Don’t come to Helen when it is raining.
Don’t come to Helen when it is raining. And, there is not much going on in January other than the Christmas decorations are still up. There are some nice restaurants but they are all pretty expensive (over $40 for two sandwiches at lunch). All the shops downtown are way over priced, as I have seen better quality in some junk stores. We didn’t buy anything - just window shopped. The little park on the hill is nice and there is some free parking there. Almost all other parking is paid, traffic is awful and cops are everywhere anxious to issue tickets.

Helen is a quint German themed town with interesting shops and eateries. You can park and walk around to most of the stores. Some of the stores further away from the town centre are too far to walk, but there is plenty to keep you busy for at least day. A river runs through town which offers tubing and other facilities in summer. We visited over the Christmas weekend Dec2023 and the lights on display were beautiful and magical. We returned for this reason. On the town square musicians were playing Christmas music and other themed entertainment were provided. The town and restaurants closed by 6pm on Christmas eve, which was unexpected but it added to that wonderful feeling that Christmas was sacred. So be aware that only one or two restaurants were open late for dinner. We attended the Christmas Eve Communion Service at the Helen Presbyterian Church. This was special. It was a rainy evening but the lights all over town were magical and being so quiet it gave enough time to look at the lights a few times. Overall Helen is worth a visit for a weekend. Do not miss the Christmas lights.

Alpine Helen is a picturesque, authentic German town, which made me feel like I had crossed the Atlantic and gone right back to Germany!! It has several excellent German restaurants, wonderful shopping, and all the charm of Europe in its German architecture. We loved every minute of our time there at the Christkindlmarkt!! We also enjoyed Hardman Farm’s Victorian Christmas, a hike to gorgeous Anna Ruby Falls, and Babyland (all very close to Helen)!

I have been to Helen many times and always enjoy my time there. There is always something new to do, something new to see, and always always waterfalls to hike ranging in trails from beginner to expert. There is also a good range of restaurants from fast food to formal. Book a hotel room downtown on the main street and you can easily walk to most restaurants and shops.
The beds were clean and comfortable enough. The room was clean and no sign of bugs (which I have heard is a common issue with many of the hotels in Helen). Great looking television if you end up stuck in the room like we were due to the rain. Parking was sufficient. Staff was very friendly. Like most people, I had a few issues/complaints, but nothing serious and nothing that would keep me from going back or recommending to anyone else.
We don't live far from Helen (hour and 1/2), so we like to go often. Thought we'd try out Heidi. No complaints at all. I like my cigars and there's a wide open patio in front of the hotel to sit a relax. I wasn't stuffed into some corner of the property like some of these high-falutent hotels. The check in process is by phone, so that was a little different, but understandable. All in all, we enjoyed our stay.
Location was walking distance to downtown Helen. Enjoyed sitting beside the river and watching people floating down the river. The swings beside the river were nice sitting in while watching the people floating by. There was picnic table where could sit and have lunch in plus there were some grills if you wanted to grill food. Just walk out the back of the hotel and enjoy the scenery.
Location within walking distance to downtown was great, which saved significant money for parking. Nice "park" like area near the river was nice, but could be improved with landscaping. I liked that there was only a 1 night minimum, which was the time we were going to stay there. Other hotels in town demanded 2 or 3 night minimums.
We arrived early, we were allowed to check in at 2:00. Everyone was very friendly, especially Michael - the valet. We didn’t know it, but the rooftop bar had closed when we went in. The bartender didn’t say a word about it and mixed me a fantastic margarita! I wasn’t impressed with the town of Helen, but the hotel was fantastic!
I cancelled another hotel an booked this one at the last minute. I liked the hotel rooms, which was very large in size. They also offered free breakfast and had a fireworks show for the 4th of July. The rooms was comfortable and clean. The staff was very professional and friendly.
Perfect location, just in the hearth of Helen. Parking space was a plus since the city was full because Oktoberfest. They didn´t have early check-in but the person who attended us (sorry, I forgot her name) was kindly to give us one room and called us when the other where ready.
The only positive thing about this hotel was the location & the gentleman working the front desk upon arrival. It was very close to downtown Helen, so we didn't have to drive far to get out. The man who checked us in was very friendly and informative.
the staff was very accommodating and pleasant, Breakfast was very satisfactory hats off to the chef. Walkable distance to everything in Helen, and enjoyed the private hot tub in our room hard to find in ordinary hotels.
The check-in staff at the front was very friendly, and we were able to walk to the center of Helen, though it was a longer walk than we had anticipated (about 25 minutes one way). The air conditioning working fine.
This hotel was was top notch! Very Clean, perfect location, and the staff was so sweet! Megan at the front desk was great!!! We will definitely start staying here every time we visit Helen!!! Highly recommended!!!
the riverfront room was quiet, next to a soothing river. Bed was comfortable. Fridge , microwave & TV were great! we could walk to the festival downtown & a fine German restaurant was right next door
The staff was very friendly, and the location is great as far as Helen hotels and motels go. The air conditioning worked. They were happy to offer extra towels. The price was reasonable for the area.
Amazing location downtown, far enough to avoid the noise, close enough to walk all of Helen. Cute and quiant from the outside, freshly renovated and comfortable on the inside. Couldn't ask for more.
Within walking distance of downtown Helen, which is very helpful considering the cost of parking. The hotel was just off the main road so there was never a lot of noise from traffic.
Room was not properly cleaned. Trash in the nightstand drawer and dust on the lamps. Sheet had a stain but was clean. Location was very nice and close to everything.
