Very small town, good place to stay for exploring the national park but somewhat limited resources in the town. No major grocer but convince stores and 1 main restaurant that serves average american/mexican/italian options but above average fudge. Quiet town with. beautiful backdrop.

we went to go see a car show, but due to weather conditions, it didn't happen, but the drive and just getting out of the house was more than worth it for sure. We just enjoyed the peacefulness of the area.

We stayed at Fort Garland while we were visiting relatives in Alamosa because you get the best nightly prices in Fort Garland. A decent room in Alamosa can costs more than in Fort Garland. It is a short 30 minute drive to Alamosa from Fort Garland.

I was here for a yarn and fiber show held at the Colorado History Museum. It's definitely worth a visit; the exhibit is very well done. You can overnight here on the way to other places: the Sand Dunes, Taos, etc. Del's Diner is the earliest place open for breakfast and does a nice job of it. The pizza place in town is very good, as is the Silver Sage for steak. Everybody is very friendly; this town is worth your time.
