Five Peaks Inn is a vacation rental suite within a private residence nestled North of Buena Vista on the East side of the World-famous Arkansas River. Here one can view magnificent 14,000 plus mountains and rock outcroppings. From our home, you can view Mt. Princeton (14,204), Mt. Yale (14,200), Mt. Columbia (14,077), Mt. Harvard (14,421) and the Buffalo Peaks (13,327). Here you can escape to 360° awe-inspiring views among the natural landscape of this high-desert region. Behind the property is Bureau of Land Management lands (BLM public lands) allowing you an easy walk to the nearby Arkansas River and to trails exploring this glorious area. Your suite, named after the Buffalo Peaks, offers the space to relax with your own private entrance, sitting/dining/TV room, master bedroom and bathroom. Outside your entrance are several outdoor seating areas for sunrise or sunset enjoyment and fenced yard for your dog. This retreat is surrounded by nature - the feeling is very peaceful and makes one relax and enjoy the splendor. It is hard to believe the now vibrant town of Buena Vista is only 10 minutes away.
For us, living here is another chapter in our individual and shared lives. We wake up every morning filled with gratitude for being able to share our lives together in this special place. We enjoy being in Nature, whether it is hiking, camping, skiing, fly-fishing for David or photography for Jamie. The adjacent BLM land, gives us and our dogs daily access to short sunset walks or longer adventures. David, finds his creative outlet in cooking, painting and renovating. Jamie’s passions are centered around her family (daughters, son-in-law, and grandchildren) and marketing for the Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center.
Right from the property you can hike, peak Buffalo Peaks, mountain bike, fly-fish or rock climb. Wildlife in the area include mule deer, elk, and big horn sheep. It is also an ideal setting for painting, reading or meditation. We are in the Fourmile Recreation area (BLM surrounds our home) with nearby Railroad Bridge (known for gold panning and fishing), the Midland Tunnels, Elephant and Turtle Rock, and the Arkansas River (famous for rafting, kayaking and fishing). The San Isabel National Forest, Colorado’s playground for adventure, is right here. Boosting twelve 14,000’ plus mountains, two natural hot springs, many lakes and tributaries, the Arkansas River, and Brown’s Canyon National Monument. The quaint town of Buena Vista has become vibrant with many exceptional eateries, bakeries and coffee shops, bars and brew pubs, music venues and shopping. Close by are the towns of Salida and Leadville/Twin Lakes. During the winter, one can ski or snowboard at the nearby Monarch Mountain, Ski Cooper, or Copper Mountain. There is also snowmobiling on Cottonwood or Tin Cup Passes or cross-country skiing offering a fun mountain escape. Come stay with us soon.
