The apartment was excellent, super clean, cooking facilities and everything else were all spot on! The apartment was very well revovated and a lovely cosy place to relax after a long day of exploring. The hot tubs and steam room were a bonus, not many (well priced) places in the area have this!
The apartment was very easy to access with the lock box code provided upon arrival (all self service). Everything in the surrounding town is in walking distance with a few great eateries/bars too!

Hveragerdi is like the story of Goldilocks - not too far...
Hveragerdi is like the story of Goldilocks - not too far away from the major cities and airport in KEF / Reykjavik. Not too remote nor too busy. Plenty of dining options and bars and yet not crowded. Not too quiet nor too bright with city lights. Almost the perfect spot if you want to explore anything in Thingvellir National Park. And, close enough to some easily accessible spots if you are hunting for the elusive Northern Lights.
Reasons to stay at Hveragerdi: 1) You just landed in Iceland and don't want to drive too far fighting jet lag. (2) You want to have a base for exploring Thingvellir / Golden Circle (3) You want to step away from the busy Reykjavik and also have options for restaurants, bars and bakeries (4) You want to stay at a spot not too far from KEF airport to catch a flight the next day
Reasons not to stay at Hvergerdi: (1) Your main points of interest are farther south and southeast Iceland (Vik / Jokulsarlon / Hofn) or farther west and north Iceland (Snaefellsness / Western fjords / Akureyri)

A great base to explore South West Iceland, the Golden Circle, and other sights. The little town is easily walkable. We ate at Matkráin which was recommended in the information pack at our accommodation and were not disappointed by the Danish smørrebrød. We also tried The Greenhouse which had a really good atmosphere and is set up as a food hall.

The location is good at the beginning of South Iceland.
The location is good at the beginning of South Iceland. Everything we wanted to see was within 1h 40min drive. Still the small town has a big shop and the basic services that smaller places further out don't have (except Selfoss)

This location was truly magical.
This location was truly magical. It was quiet but close enough to amenities. The walks around our hotel were beautiful, including the walk to the village. Nearby you can do the mega zipwire and the hike to the hot river. We really enjoyed both of these activities. The town of Selfoss is busier and has some great restaurants, it's around 10 minute drive. We also visited the Lava Tunnel which is about 15 minutes away. However, this was pricey for what it was. Be prepared to spend quite a bit of money as Iceland is expensive.

Great place to visit.
Great place to visit. Excellent hike to hot springs and geo thermal river for bathing - wasn't spoilt by being busy.
Are out one night at the pizza and brewery in town which was reasonably priced, delicious pizza and lively atmosphere.
- very clean. the picture looked old fashioned so I was expecting something… different. but incredibly clean!
- cozy atmosphere inside the hotel, due to the « relaxing corner » with coffee and tea, the kindness of the staff, the fact all rooms are on level 0 so everything is uncomplicated
- easy to find, right by the road
- quite
- the restaurant is very good and not so expensive for icelandic standards
This hotel is amazing. it’s set in a perfect location beside a river. perfect for chilling out with 2 hot tubs, sauna and a small swimming pool. the rooms were excellent and very clean. the bar and restaurant had many pretty and unique ornaments and ceiling decorations. staff were very friendly and helpful- all
in all - perfect.
AMAZING! Charming apartament just like you see on the pictures. Everything was perfectly clean and it had a great hot tub and sauna which work wonders when you arrive tired after a day of exploring the wonderful Icelandic landscape. Would definitely recommend to any one looking for a great place to stay.
cute boutique style hotel. enjoyed our stay very much however we were located on the end of the hallway and it was extremely noisy from the wind in the bathroom vent. disturbed sleep. otherwise super trendy and comfortable. it was very windy that night so may not be a common problem
The hotel sits in a river valley surrounded by geothermal vents. Each room has a separate entrace and a balcony. We were able to sit out on the balcony watching the river and steam vents. There is a nice walking path to see the thermal vents. The breakfast was very good.
The self check in process was seamless. When the specific room type we were looking for was not available, the hotel owner even offered for us to receive complimentary breakfast at a nearby hotel to make up the difference. She's absolutely a joy to work with!
Quirky and unusual - never experienced a hotel like it before! It’s green, friendly, everything under one roof, food was lovely and even an ice cream parlor! Receptionist alerted to northern lights outside - bonus!
Wonderful lady that runs the place. She meet us at the door, checked us in and talked to us for a while about the best times to see the northern lights. Wonderful small cottage without the big hotel experience.
Conveniently located to nearby attractions. Staff was very friendly, they notified all people in the restaurant and lobby when the northern light was visible just outside the hotel. Clean room, nice hot tub.
Very comfortable, cozy Appartement. All kinds of extras in the Appartement and well equipped with eye for detail
Hot tub and steam bath are working perfectly fine.
City centre is nice and close by
